2017 Streaming Defenses (1 Viewer)

Missed out on the Saints, ended up with the Lions.

Don't feel great about it, but I figure it's kind of a hedge since I'm also starting Jordan Howard.

Interestingly enough the Chargers and Pats were both dropped today. Would love to have either for next week if I get there. Maybe even this week for the Chargers.
I've been rolling with the Lions all year. No need to feel bad. Carolina D was dropped & I did put in a claim for them, though. If nothing else, block my opponents.

FWIW I have Buff and Det and am playing Buff.  Feel like Cutler could turn into a pumpkin in crappy weather.
In general I like northern defenses playing at home against so-so southern teams in December, but Cutler played in both Denver and Chicago in the past, and Miami looked awfully good running the ball the other night and will be unlikely to have to get into a shootout with Buffalo.  My league is best ball, so I'm thinking see how what Detroit gets me, and if they don't produce, I have a player I can probably cut and pick up a second defense among Buff, Mia., Minn, and TB (which has had a few productive games this year) to see if they out produce Detroit.

I have to choose between DEN and WAS in one league, leaning DEN. How well DEN's defense performs really is almost solely reliant on whether or not their offense can sustain drives. IND's secondary is in tatters and although Wilson has played well in his recent starts they're just really inexperienced. It feels weird typing this but Siemian should be able to move the ball against them.

I am choosing between AZ and WAS but also have Atlanta and Buf on waivers.....still leaning Washington though, although having stock in the MNF game (ATL) for semifinals week is always nice.

I have to decide between Minnesota or Washington this week.  While the Vikes are a much better D than the Skins in real football, they haven't scored a lot of D points lately, while the Cards are giving up lots of points.

My two cents on all these q;s for whatever my two cents are worth:

@Whizzinator - I like BUF at home against a warm weather team than DEN on the road in a quasi-dome. Hard for me to turn away from DEN given the momentum they have, but and weather in BUF won't be blizzard conditions, but that's how I would lean. I'd choose either BUF or DEN over LAC -- LAC is a more trustworthy D overall, but I think that game against KC is more apt to lean towards a shootout than a defensive battle.

@Skoo -- I'm with @Magic_Man would roll with the Lions this week as they look to cement their playoff run at home over either LAC or NE.

@SameSongNDance -- would also play DEN over WAS. It's a tough decision as I think Washington's D has looked fairly strong at times this year and they are at home, and ARI is reeling and really one-dimensional right now. DEN has momentum but are on the road. WAS seems to be the choice, but if I had those two Ds, would be hard for me not to roll with the higher pedigree D who is coming off a very solid game.

@ahartig -- I like the Bills above everyone. See above for the thoughts of WAS, I think they are worth thinking about. Would not be considering ARI given risk they lay an egg on the road, and while I think ATL is a decent option, I worry that TB can find itself clicking at home against all previous evidence. Divisional battles like this simply make me wary.

@LionOfGosforth - honestly flip a coin, both are Top 5 Ds this week. I would lean Saints as they are at home and the Ravens are not, and the Jets with Petty are a huge question mark.

@davidwb - love the Vikes at home against the toothless tigers. Can see them holding CIN to 16 or less and under 300 yards and some good opportunities for INTs.

Have Carolina as well. Picked up Saints for this week but I think Carolina is worth rolling out Week 16 (assuming advancement).

@Stompin' Tom Connors You’ve answered a lot of Qs...what’re your thoughts on BUF DET? Leaning DET now ... waiting on a more accurate weather report in BUF.
These two are really comparable for me this week, as both are at home playing exploitable offenses. Both also have holes -- BUF against the run (allowing over 140 yards on the ground to 5 out of the last 6 opponents and are first in the league in TDs allowed to RBs) and DET against the pass (while Slay has played well, the rest of the secondary has not). Both are also divisional matchups which can be hard to predict -- teams show up to play divisional rivals, even if there is nothing at stake.

I like the Bills to hold the Fins to a lower score than DET holds Chicago, and given the outdoor game against a warm weather team, would lean on the Bills this week.

I actually dropped Vikes just because of what you said.

Eagles @ NYG or Saints vs Jets? Leaning Saints here. Bonus for net yards under 300. Seems like a real possibility.

I had this choice as I was first on the WW this week and took the Saints.  Hope I'm right, because my opponent took the Eagles.

Anyone else making a decision between the Bills and Chargers? Chargers are hard to sit right now.
Yes. As of now I just  can't bring myself to start the bills. They stink and I'm worried Miami has righted the ship a bit.

I've been starting the wrong defense all year.

Same. That was brutal.
In leagues where points and yards are important, that performance wasn't bad. 13 points and 228 yards. If moron Siemian didn't gift the Colts with that terrible int and field position, the Colts probably don't score a TD last night.

That said, 1 sack against Brissett and zero turnovers no good.

Not awful, but not stupendous (which is what I was looking for).

Might be more bad news for those who started Den D.  This was the play that was ruled a sack.

It looks like Brisset was tackled and the ball was beyond the line of scrimmage.  If he receives a stat correction of +1 yard on this play then he was tackled beyond the line of scrimmage and therefore the result is not a sack.  I think this will stand but you never know with forward progress.

I got Carolina from waivers, but I think I still have to roll with Detroit for week 15 & then perhaps Carolina week 16 if I get there.

Had 1 WW pickup remaining for the season and I was seriously considering picking up Mike Davis so I wouldn't have to start Burkhead as my #2 RB

I instead went with NO DEF so I wouldn't have to start my LAR D against my own Russel Wilson.

Saints D at home should be a tough game for Petty to come out and make plays.  Hoping NO defense makes Petty's day a nightmare.

I find that pick a little bit surprising considering how well Miami has been playing recently. Curious to know what others think.

I was holding BUF and DET, wasn't in love with either matchup.  Saw LAC on the wire, to me they're all around the same spot so I went with the hot hand.  KC has given up some sacks lately, Chargers have been on a roll...  #boltup or whatever.

@J R I don't love BUF either, Miami is playing inspired ball.

Can I get some quick thought on Week 16 -- who do you think is a stronger play:

DEN @ WAS

DET @ CIN
I don't like either much as their both playing away, but I would lean Detroit. Washington has a better offense IMO and it looked like Cincy was giving up while getting throttled by the Bears last week.

Interesting. My first thought was to lean the other way because Washington has been getting wiped recently and Denver will have a long week. Denver doesn't get many turnovers, but maybe they can take advantage of Washington's OL injuries.

Totally agree. Going against the Bengals this week and Championship week, should be a solid move. They have lied down.

Could certainly go that way. Like I said, I don't like either option much. I'd have to look but I would guess there's a LOT of defenses out there I would stream over those 2 next week.

Home favorites. Have finally taken that bit of advice to heart this year.

I agree. Just throwing out my impression as a counterpoint.
