Can't wait.Yup. And the next time I hear somebody mention expanding the playoffs I'm going to rub their nose in this game like a dog who shat on the carpet.
What a debacle.
I suppose we could look back to the BCS years to see who might've been good enough to have that discussion. Why would this year’s results mean that college football’s top end will never be, say, six or seven teams deep?
Thus year, it looks three teams deep. What does that guarantee for, say, 2025?
People are dumbWhy would this year’s results mean that college football’s top end will never be, say, six or seven teams deep?

Obviously want to avoid a fluke injury to their kicker.Lol @ going for it
Let’s hope not. The people who argue for expansion should be shot. Tarred and feathered at a bare minimum.I know we are going to 8 teams in a few years and more games is good but we’re going to see a lot more trash like this when it happens.
Notre Dame last year too. I would be interested to see what the BCS would’ve done with the rankings last year. Committee was never going to get that seeding right with Notre Dame undefeated, but everyone knew going in they were the easier matchup, especially Clemson. They bragged about prepping for Bama during their semifinal prep.Yup. Hello and thank you for hading me here. this is my first post but I am long time on footballguys
who does everyone think the Bangles will draft first - will be definitly LSU quarterback right?
#WhoAreThey
thans for the inviting!
I used to know but my memory’s a little fuzzy. It really is the pits.
We’ve had 2 good playoff games in 6 years. The argument should be to go backwards tbhNotre Dame last year too. I would be interested to see what the BCS would’ve done with the rankings last year. Yes I’m gonna watch all year and then skip a playoff game just because sorry Oklahoma got into it.You don't have to watch?
No. It’s the dumbest argument ever. Also, CONSIDER TWO LOSS TEAMS.Tonight doesn’t help the Conference Champ value to the CFP equation.
So if we went backwards, where would this years four finalist be? What bowl games would they be playing at? Would we have a clear champ? That was always the complaint under the old system. We’ve had 2 good playoff games in 6 years. The argument should be to go backwards tbh
Appalachian State only had 1 loss. Who cares about their conference. They were obviously better than a Georgia type team because, hey, only one loss.No. It’s the dumbest argument ever. Also, CONSIDER TWO LOSS TEAMS.
Drop the committee and use BCS era rankings (computers + polls) to determine final 4?No. It’s the dumbest argument ever. Also, CONSIDER TWO LOSS TEAMS.
What is your argument? You will watch the playoffs?Yes I’m gonna watch all year and then skip a playoff game just because sorry Oklahoma got into it.

Curious, what would #4 team have been if they did that?Drop the committee and use BCS era (computers + polls) to determine final 4?
One of these teams between Ohio State, Clemson and LSU would have been screwed under the old system. Expansion is going to happen it is silly to think anything else. No one wants to see ND vs ISU in a 50% filled stadium and other bowl games were NFL level talent sit out to prevent injuries. Even a dominant #1 team playing the #8 team is a sell out and players believing they have a shot at a championship. Win / Win for TV ratings and CFB fans.So if we went backwards, where would this years four finalist be? What bowl games would they be playing at? Would we have a clear champ? At least this system lets us know who the champ is, even if there are some sucky semifinal games.
I dunno but conference champs shouldn’t be a consideration and 2 loss teams should be.Drop the committee and use BCS era rankings (computers + polls) to determine final 4?
I don’t know if anybody is still doing this. Sadly, probably Oklahoma.Curious, what would #4 team have been if they did that?
IMHO, it's important for college football to have as many teams as possible perceived as having a legitimate shot at a title. Getting to the playoffs a few years in a row as a #5-8 seed can help a program's profile ... and that path should be available to more teams.Even a dominant #1 team playing the #8 team is a sell out and players believing they have a shot at a championship. Win / Win for TV ratings and CFB fans.
AP and Coaches poll have Oklahoma #4 and Georgia #5.Curious, what would #4 team have been if they did that?
I disagree. The more teams there are that make the playoffs, the more distribution there is of talent as a result. College basketball has proven that. When the playoff is only 4 teams, the talent gravitates to a small handful of schools. College football has proven that.I know we are going to 8 teams in a few years and more games is good but we’re going to see a lot more trash like this when it happens.
The talent never has and never will be distributed in college football.I disagree. The more teams there are that make the playoffs, the more distribution there is of talent as a result. The sames used to be said of college basketball. It was UCLA, and everyone else. The talent never has and never will be distributed in college football.
I’d argue 3, Bama/Clemson 1 and 2, then OU/UGA. The point remains. We’ve had 2 good playoff games in 6 years. The argument should be to go backwards tbh
Basketball and football comparisons make zero sense. 1 player in basketball can turn a team from worst to first. You need a minimum of 35-40 very good to great players to make the football playoff. The sames used to be said of college basketball. It was UCLA, and everyone else.
Absolutely nothing in common with each other. The sames used to be said of college basketball. It was UCLA, and everyone else.
@evansaacks: Joe Burrow has thrown more TDs in Mercedes-Benz Stadium in 2019 than Matt Ryan. From Matt Brown on Twitter:
