2019 NFL 100th Anniversary Team (who stays/goes) (1 Viewer)

In 1994, a selection committee of media and league personnel released the 75th anniversary NFL team.

25 years brings us to 2019, a 100th Anniversary team which should be selected after the 2018 season.
Any early thoughts on who will goes and who from the past 25 years takes their place?

75th Team:
QB: Baugh, Graham, Montana, Unitas
FB: Brown, Motley, Nagurski
RB: Payton, Sayers, OJ Simpson, Van Buren
WR: Alworth, Berry, Hutson, Rice
TE: Ditka, Winslow
OT: R. Brown, F Gregg, A. Munoz
G: Hannah, Parker, Upshaw
C: Hein, Mike Webster

DE: D. Jones, Marchetti, White
DT: J Greene, Bob Lilly, Olsen
LB: Butkis, Ham, Hendricks, Lanier, Nischke, Taylor
CB: Blount, Haynes, Night Train Lane, Rod Woodson
S: Lott, Wilson, Houston

P: Guy
PK: Stenerud
PR: White Shoes Johnson
KR: Sayers

Only fella listed not in the hall is White Shoes Johnson and I think he has a decent chance to get knocked off by Hester.

At QB, Brady has to make it. The choice to bump is either Baugh or Graham. I'd lean Baugh, because he could be included as a 2-Way player or something. I don't think P Manning bumps Otto, but wouldn't be terribly surprised.

Will they keep FB separate? These guys were old in 1994. Either FB gets lumped into HB and Brown survives, or there are no changes to the FB position.

At HB, Simpson is an easy cut and replaced with Emmitt Smith. Can Barry replace Van Buren?

For WR, think a spot needs to be found for Moss. I think one of Alworth and Berry has to go, but I can't say which one.

Gonzalez and Gates are likely both capable of replacing Ditka and Winslow. I don't think that both old timers would be removed though, so I see Gonzalez replacing Winslow and Ditka hanging on.

At OT, Ogden and Jones both have arguments. Tough to go across eras with linemen. Think Roosevelt Brown would be on the chopping block if Ogden/Jones get in.

Can Matthews break in at OG? He'd have to displace three of the biggest names on the Offensive Line. I don't think he does.

I'd replace Webster with Otto, but no one from the past 25 years.

Defensive End is a tough one, as we've seen some extraordinary players over the past 25 years. Most of these guys don't make the cut (Taylor, Strahan, Watt), but I'm very tempted to swap Marchetti with Bruce Smith.

Defensive Tackle stays exactly the same.

Linebackers seem very difficult to me. A lot of throwbacks to the 50s-70s with Butkis, Hendricks, Hendricks, Ham and Lanier. Vying for spots, I have Lewis, Brooks and Derrick Thomas. Lanier to me is the easy cut and the second best KC linebacker is replaced with the first. Ham, to me should be the only other LB in danger and I'd prefer Derrick Brooks. However, I can't see Ray Lewis being kept off the list.

It will be tough to keep Charles Woodson off the list and impossible to keep Deion off. Sanders could replace Night Train Lane, but maybe we just go to 5 CB in honor of more nickel coverage being used.

Ken Houston, from what I can gather, was a heck of a player. 1st team all-pro two times, but Polamalu or Ed Reed is going to take his spot. Larry Wilson is credited with the invention of the safety blitz and was on two all-decade teams. Tough to bump him and I don't think we get two safeties from the past 25 years. Sorry Ed Reed, but you're on the outside looking in.

Punter stays Guy, unless the committee wants to throw Baugh a bone after getting removed at QB.

I'm unsure how Vinatieri wouldn't be the kicker here

PR goes to Hester and KR remains Sayers.
