2020 College football thread - It's the offseason, yo. (2 Viewers)

They don’t have one player who would like up for OSU. What are they supposed to do?
  gotta take some shots if you want to beat OSU.  Ramsey was throwing downfield pretty well in the first half, then they abandoned it.  Pass rush was too much, I guess, but the playcalling was scared in the second half, IMO.

Very possible that four of the five P5 champions will be repeat winners, if Clemson beats ND.

The only “newcomer” would be Alabama.

When you have 2 seconds and your WR's are slower than their DB's its suicide.

So true. Herby has it down.

Alabama

Clemson

Ohio State

Open spot for Big 12 or runner up ACC, SEC ND.
Recruits aren't stupid. They know that with a 4 team playoff there is only a few schools to choose from if you want the best chance to play in it.

Mens basketball on the other hand is proof that if you want more parity across the schools, you need a bigger playoff.

Probably the #1 reason the playoffs should be expanded. The top shelf talent are gravitating to the 6-8 schools that are regulars in the CFP.
agreed. i think there is some momentum to expanding to 8, but much of it is because of the ncaa's lost 2020 revenue. so maybe a reason that has almost nothing to do with the on-field product results in a logical end

As an ND fan it pains me to say I think we see the last 30 years come to roost again today. Six weeks ago was an aberration and I think it probably stays close but Clemson pulls away with a late TD to make it a 13/14 point game.

For ND to have a shot again, we have to be able to run the ball well. I think the losses on the OL since then plus returning defenders on Clemson is the bigger reason than is Lawrence today. I’m curious how we play D as you can’t stack the line only today and Etienne should play much better today.

8 games doesn't change who will win the Championship.  There are only 2 teams that can win it.  Far outside chance to ND.  Even if they beat Clemson, I don't think they can hang with Alabama.

Some years Clemson can't hang with Alabama and vice versa.

I think you all have a good shot today.  Good luck!

Playing well all year I think will translate and playing them once already helps.  Coaching can matter today.  But you guys are out gunned.

The 4:30 PM Bills/Broncos game is being aired locally over-the-air on our ABC affiliate, so they've showing the ACC Championship on some local public access channel.  It's in standard def.  What the #### is this ####?

You want my youtube tv login, I will give it.

Yeah I'll just watch it on the ESPN app, thanks for the Youtube offer.

Apparently this game is pre-empting several episodes of According to Jim, per my Spectrum cable guide.
Lol.  If you want it no problem.  I have another house in a different state so I know you will get my local HD feed because I get it there.

Development is more important for the big time players, but agree playing in a CFP is an advantage generally.

What a horrible turn of events. Had the momentum, got too cute in the RZ, and our kicker is suffering from the yips. Not good enough today boys. Let’s go!

Yep. It doesn't help that ESPN has the playoff rights so they talk about them incessantly all year.
Herbie was before my time.  The way he talks I thought he was a stud QB at OSU.  I just looked up his career stats and he was terrible, only had like 7 career TD passes. and the teams he was on were not good either.

Go Irish.
I don't have a dog in this fight but living in the heart of the ACC.  Notre Dame football makes things much much more interesting.

Having said that, ND needs to do whats best for them after this year.  This is a business.

He's a good announcer imo and gives a crap about the players.  I like him but I don't watch the games because of him.

As seen on twitter:

Ohio State Twitter: 🗣 “We suck what is going on?”

Ohio State Twitter: 🗣 “This is what happens when you only play 5 games 🤬

Ohio State Twitter: 🗣 “I can’t even watch this team playing D3 football”

Ohio State Twitter: 🗣 “Keeping us out of the playoffs would be criminal”

Did you see that recent report.  ND makes less in TV revenue than each ACC team gets.  They are making more from ACC revenue share this year than they usually make.  How the hell is that?   Did not see the report, just some high level summaries of it.

Plus their matchups with USC, Stanford, etc aren;t exactly as riveting as playing Clemson, Miami, Fl St, or even UNC or VT.  West coast teams other than Oregon have been mostly incognito since the playoffs began.

This one is mostly Book so far. He’s playing timid and he’s making bad reads and taking bad sacks. They’ve gotta call a QB run to shake him loose.
They had a lb spying him on that last play.  No way he's out running that guy.   Pretty good game plan.    Maintain rushing lanes and slowly collapse the pocket since ND doesn't have the WR's to threaten you.
