That's what I am hearing.Sounds like Quenneville is out?
Remind me of what happened in the summer of 2020, because I distinctly remember Tampa crushing Columbus in 5 games. Yes, they got swept the year before, but that’s not the point, they’ve done well against Torts recently.uhhhhhh
No, I was following Tampa by that point. I started sometime in 2018, after not following hockey at all for a few years at least. Got very annoyed by that series, though, because they were clearly better than whatever that series was. Thankfully, the perfect remedy for that is winning 2 straight Cups.Pretty sure Kal El was still listening to Red Wings games in 2019
Ok it doesn’t matter anymore because of 2 straight cups but the bolts had one of the greatest regular season teams ever and got swept by that guy. I’d hate if he took the Florida job.Remind me of what happened in the summer of 2020, because I distinctly remember Tampa crushing Columbus in 5 games. I know, but the Lightning are better than that team that got swept. Heck, we saw them make the playoffs while missing Kucherov all season.Ok it doesn’t matter anymore because of 2 straight cups but the bolts had one of the greatest regular season teams ever and got swept by that guy. ArizonaAnyone have a prediction on where Eichel lands? Has to be getting close I think.
Maybe the Wild can trade Kaprizov for him.Anyone have a prediction on where Eichel lands? Has to be getting close I think.
I was at the game tonight giving the Bruins crap.
Lightning 101... LTIRLeafs get Rielly for $7.5 Million for the next eight years. Less than he would have gotten if he went UFA, so I assumed he was all but gone but probably about right really.
Rielly is in my opinion truly ELITE at getting the puck out of the D zone, up the ice and into the offensive zone. He's not a dynamic scorer or offensive weapon once they're in and he's not a great shut down guy if they get pinned in their own end which is why he can't be a true top tier NHL dman - but the transition game, zone exits, zone entries, breakout passes etc... is where he earns this money.
I have no idea how the Leafs are going to work the salary cap going forward though with $47M committed now to Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavares and Rielly.
Lightning 101... LTIR
Of course they could. They'd just lose in round 1They couldn't make the playoffs if they had
Matthews, Marner, Nylander, Tavare Rielly and Kuchorov
Toews was never going to be on the upcoming Canada roster anyway. I have no doubt Kane will be on the USA roster though. So Toews and Kane with their comments, they're basically done forever, right?
Reputations permanently ruined. Can't possibly be selected for upcoming Olympics. Will be booed out of every NHL arena.
Right?
Toews: "We wish we could have done something differently, myself included."So Toews and Kane with their comments, they're basically done forever, right?

Right?
Likely notdoes Cheveldayoff get clipped as well? Not sure how powerful he was, but pretty much everybody else in that meeting is unemployed now it seems.
that seems pretty reasonable.
if he wants back in, he'll have to get approval from Bettman (same as Stan). Is Q banned for life? I mean, he probably is for all intents and purposes, but has the NHL said exactly what his punishment is other than being removed as the Panthers' coach?
Lesson 1: be able to make it past the first round at any point in the last 17 years.Lightning 101... LTIR
Me either. But it obviously should.I'm not sure any of that will happen.
ok, but how much of this really falls on those guys? yes, they said dumb things while trying to stand up for Bowman, but this seems a bit excessive.Me either. But it obviously should.
I'd like to see the Blackhawks strip them of their captaincy and then healthy scratch them for the rest of their contracts.
I know that's not going to happen. But it would be pretty easy for Blackhawks fans to force this. Boo from start to finish every game until it happens. Take all the jerseys and throw them on the ice throughout the game.
The organization couldn't just ignore the media attention.
But no one will do anything. Because. Always because.
So no consequences for the players? For their role during, after and continuing now? That seems more than a bit unfair.ok, but how much of this really falls on those guys? yes, they said dumb things but this seems a bit excessive.
it was reported to the President of the team, who decided to do nothing. it was also reported to the NHLPA, who apparently did nothing.
with regard to your last sentence, that seems a bit unfair too as Bowman and Quenneville clearly were forced to quit as a result of this investigation. That's pretty significant, especially since Quenneville ranks 2nd in all-time wins, is on a new team, and coaching one of the elite teams in the league.
As far as Toews and Kane go, I don’t think they should have any punishment beyond getting the letters taken away, but that suggested punishment seems excessive. They weren’t really in a position to do anything about it when this all happened, and I feel as though they don’t have the whole story. They’re still wrong, but the hammer should come down on the Blackhawks brass who was there at the time.ok, but how much of this really falls on those guys? yes, they said dumb things while trying to stand up for Bowman, but this seems a bit excessive.

They weren't? The team could've refused to take the ice until something was done.As far as Toews and Kane go, I don’t think they should have any punishment beyond getting the letters taken away, but that suggested punishment seems excessive. what are we accusing Kane and Toews of here? The incident was reported to the team. Don't even think they were aware of it until the following year when Aldrich was gone.So no consequences for the players? For their role during, after and continuing now? That seems more than a bit unfair.
It's not a right to play in the NHL. Owners and teams need to ask themselves if people actually matter. When will it ever be enough to hold them accountable?
Kaepernick was banned for life in essence for saying black people should be treated equally.
But these guys can look the other way while it happens, say nothing and outright lie for a decade and then now say how there are good people on both sides.
It should be unacceptable. And owners have demonstrated over and over again that all they care about is money. Above all else. No matter the human toll.
Maybe it's time for something to be done to show that that's unacceptable. Fans have more power than they realize.
the UNION failed to act and protect one of their own constituents. That's the NHLPA. It was reported to them, and that also went nowhere. And forget the fans for a minute. Where the eff are the players?????? Where is the union???? They should be striking until something more is done.
But I guess the culture is what it is. So about six guys in the league actually care.
My understanding, which may be wrong, from reading the pieces on the Athletic is that Beach said then and now that the players knew the whole time. And that he felt betrayed that no one ever stepped up for him. And in fact some of the players were whispering behind the scenes and painting Beach to be a horrible guy and helping to destroy his career during the years long character assassination and cover-up that went on.what are we accusing Kane and Toews of here? The incident was reported to the team. Don't even think they were aware of it until the following year when Aldrich was gone.
Even Beach said he assumed something had happened but found out later when that the guy assaulted someone else when he googled it and that made him take action.
when do you believe the players learned of what happened? They weren't? The team could've refused to take the ice until something was done.
my impression is that the players didn't find out until the next season after Aldrich was gone.My understanding, which may be wrong, from reading the pieces on the Athletic is that Beach said then and now that the players knew the whole time. There is plenty of anger toward Fehr. And he should be held accountable too. My point is I'm not sure how fans effect that change.the UNION failed to act and protect one of their own constituents. That's the NHLPA. It was reported to them, and that also went nowhere.
not sure why there isn't more anger directed at them vs Kane/Toews.
also, Duncan Keith wasn't even interviewed as part of the investigation. Do you want to burn him at the stake too?
Yes. And as I said, I may be mistaken. But I thought that's what the complaint says.my impression is that the players didn't find out until the next season after Aldrich was gone.
you think they knew about this while partying with Aldrich after they won the Cup?
maybe we should have taken action against Kane when he was accused of rape? or when he beat up a cab driver. There is plenty of anger toward Fehr. And he should be held accountable too. My point is I'm not sure how fans effect that change.
And I think it's troubling, in light of what happened to Beach, to say that a player no longer being allowed to play in the NHL because of their words and (in)actions is burning them at the stake.
Every one has their own opinion on all this. I'm just surprised - I shouldn't be anymore - that nothing more is apparently going to happen.
I've heard those vaguely referenced during all this, and I guess I was unaware of that - which is a problem in and of itself.also, Patrick Kane has a laundry list of horrible incidents in his past. he's disliked by a ton of fans and not sure he's ever been held accountable.
Absolutely. Didn't know any of that. But, hey good buddy, it seems like you're on my side now!maybe we should have taken action against Kane when he was accused of rape? or when he beat up a cab driver.
yes, they've enabled Kane throughout his career. he's about the last person who you want sticking up for you.I've heard those vaguely referenced during all this, and I guess I was unaware of that - which is a problem in and of itself.
So apparently this is an organization that really doesn't give a crap about anything.
