*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

Out of the 9 playoff series in a row the Leafs were easily the most difficult imo. I never thought the Islanders had a chance last year. This Leafs team was amazing imo.

The last time the Leafs won a playoff series:

-George W. Bush was still in his first term as president
-Tom Brady had only won two Super Bowls
-Taylor Swift was still 2 1/2 years away from releasing her debut record
-LeBron James had just finished his rookie season in the NBA

To add to this: there was still an NBA team in Seattle.

@DarrenDreger: There will changes to the Maple Leafs roster based on salary cap and free agency, but, I don’t foresee drastic changes or sense that the coach or GM are in trouble. Toronto made strides this season and faced a great opponent in a entertaining 7 game series.

@kristen_shilton: Steven Stamkos: "That was one of the toughest series we've played."

My Vancouver friends love nothing more than - if they can't win the Cup - seeing Toronto lose.  They can't stand "The Big City".

Also, I did not use hate there, Canadians are too nice for that.  But yeah, man do they hate the Leafs.

Obviously it could never happen, but what would happen if the Wild played the Leafs in the playoffs? I mean, someone has to advance, right? But neither is capable of that, so ...

Wow, I'm really going to show my naiveté...how are they doing it now?
2v3 in each division.

Toronto and Tampa should be the 3 and 4 seeds in the East but played in the first round.

Old way would have been:

FLA/WAS
CAR/BOS
TOR/PIT
TB/NYR

COL/NSH
MIN/DAL
CGY/LAK
STL/EDM

Again, forgive me being a neophyte, please.  WHY are they doing it this way?
