Quick channeling Hasek tonight.

McDavid put on a clinic though.

Their celebratory song in Edmonton is “La Bamba”???   :lmao:

Before that, during the tense, raucous final break, they sang in unison to “I Don’t Want to Lose Your Love Tonight”.

It's no worse than the Leafs goal song being "You Make My Dreams (Come True)".

Actually, probably better.  And the Leafs wonder why they haven't won a playoff series since 2004.

Are you somehow being critical of Hall & Oates?

:unsubscribe:
I am in no way denigrating the wonder that is Hall and Oates.  They were one of my first concerts in 1982.

I am just saying it's a dumb choice for a goal song.

Back in 95-96, our local AHL team at the time decided it would be a great idea to have their season slogan be "Heart and Soul on Ice", and they proceeded to take the ice every home game to the pulse-pounding "Heart and Soul" by T'Pau.  They then proceeded to set the record for worst record in AHL history that season.

Appropriateness counts.

@ToddFuhrman: End of 1 at MSG: Pens 1 - Rangers 1

It's all about Shesterkin...

Advanced Stats

xG: Pens 2.76 - NYR .33
xG 5 on 5: Pens 1.24 - NYR .29
Deserve to win: Pens 94%

I almost never argue in favor of NY teams   , but it's amazing how the Rangers get boned on every goal (or no goal) in this series that has to be reviewed.  That last one wasn't above the crossbar?  Okay, sure.

Pouring one out for @Sheriff66
Those fans have 3 recent Cups to keep them occupied.

Game works in strange ways - Rangers fans were so disappointed in Panarin all series long and now this. Think they’re underplaying an injury he suffered at the end of the season. Whole team has to really clean up a lot of stuff to have a chance against the Canes.

Jake Oettinger is out of control. He doesn’t want a Battle of Alberta like everyone else?

There will be a lot of dumb BC fans taunting BU fans because Gaudreau went 1 for 50 and Oettinger made 60 saves instead of 61. Such is life here in the Commonwealth of Hockey.

Huh. I was gonna ask if Sullivan's seat was getting warm but....

@colin_dunlap: Our @jhathhorn just told us there is "not 100 percent confidence" from Penguins new ownership that current GM and President are right fit right now.

Got the East right and picked the wrong upset in the west.  Again, never go with your heart when betting.

Looks like they forgot how to win. Better blow it up.
:lmao:

The Penguins didn't forget how to win; sometimes things just wind down.  Their core of superstars - Crosby, Malkin & Letang for those keeping score - are 34, 35 and 35 respectively.  This is a young man's game.

I don't know if the actions they will take will constitute "blowing it up", but changes are a coming.  Frankly, I'm surprised they kept the gang together this long.

I don't think Crosby is going anywhere.  Malkin and Letang?  Not so sure.

In any event, its been a hell of a ride.

Happy for Drury.
to be fair, jd and gorton did a lot of the heavy lifting.  change in coach seems huge here, quinn was abysmal.
Agreed - JD and Gorton brought in a lot of these guys before being unceremoniously dumped.

Where Drury really excelled was at the trade deadline this year - in particular, Frank Vetrano (for a 4th rounder in 2022) and Andrew Copp. And Motte came up pretty big last night after missing a chunk of time.
