*** 2021/22 Stanley Cup NHL Thread **** Congrats 2022 Avs Cup Champs! (1 Viewer)

DeBoer fired.

And at my latest count, Trotz will be coaching every team in the league next season except the Islanders. Which might be some sort of record.

Guessing it will be one of Babcock, Trotz, Tortorella, or Quenneville (if the sexual assault issues don’t hover) to take over in Vegas.

I looked at VGK capfriendly page. They are over the cap next year despite having 18 players . Average age 29.8. Lehner is their only goalie and they owe him 5 mil for 3 more years. Oh and they have no first round pick.

Seems like they blew their chance. Good.

pretty sure Lehner also hates them

he's not great either.   price is fine...  just doubt he could ever carry someone to a cup.  Same with Campbell.
love both of them. sign me up for either in Buffalo as a short-term bridge til the kids are ready.

Rags advanced with barely over 35% xGF% 5v5 over the equivalent of 8 games.  I knew it was bad but jesus that’s awful.  and that’s with the Pens missing several key skaters for parts of the series.  even Nashville was better than that.  tough look, Louie.

Huh. I was gonna ask if Sullivan's seat was getting warm but....

@colin_dunlap: Our @jhathhorn just told us there is "not 100 percent confidence" from Penguins new ownership that current GM and President are right fit right now.

The other part of this story may be an unconfirmed report that Crosby was cleared to play Game 6 and Hextall squashed it.

Initial reports were that Crosby had been diagnosed with a concussion but then this came out before Game 7-

@frank_seravalli: Sources: Sidney Crosby, game-time decision, was not diagnosed with a concussion.

There was some initial concern, with a headache after Game 5, that might be the case. He was tested, negative result. Nothing further developed and belief is he’s remained symptom-free since.

Congrats, @IC FBGCav ... that was a fun series. Good luck to your boys the rest of the way.

If that's the last we see of Bergeron ... :sadbanana:
Thank brother, weird series.  Home team was better by far.  I told awmar the first to 3 would win game 7.

I am little concerned. Avs just got lazy there and let the Blues back in this thing and here we are in OT. You can’t let them hang around

This is one of those games that I have absolutely no idea what it means for the rest of the series. The Avs obviously dominated, Binnington was out of his mind, Colorado hit five posts/bars, outshot them 13-0 in OT.

I mean, that’s not sustainable for either team, is it?

I am afraid it might be.  As great as the Blues have been the last two months, the Avs speed looks to be too much for them.  They shouldn't look that overmatched, but it is hard to imagine them turning it around enough to win four of the next six, unless the Avs fall on their faces.  I was pretty optimistic before last night, but seeing that was like cold water in the face.

This is how the Avs have played us for a few years now so it’s definitely sustainable for them. If Binnington can keep up his end of the bargain then my feeling of Avs in 5 before the series began will be correct. If not, this is a sweep.

Did Binnington really play that well? Including the posts, the Avs beat him 8 times. Yes, he made a lot of saves, but he also faced a lot of shots. It feels like he was the beneficiary of a fair amount of good luck.

Bob with the save of the playoffs.

That is assuming it wasn't going over the net. Was hard to tell but Holy smokes!

I didn’t think the Bolts wanted it that bad against the Leafs. They’ve gone next level.
The Leafs were the second-best team they’ll face these playoffs if they get Colorado and maybe Calgary. Florida is a major step down, the regular-season doesn’t matter.
