First I am hearing of it, but it feels forced since Borrego took his name out of consideration. Feels like a stop gap coach. Not sure much changes.

They could use an upgrade in shooting from Oubre. Didn't realize he shot 31.1% this year and 31.9% last season. That is ungood.

He had a -0.1 VORP and -2.3 BPM last season. Didn't realize how below average he actually was.

I’ve assumed that PG would flirt with other teams but end up re-signing with the Clippers. Is that still the most likely scenario?

Most likely of the options available? I would say yes. Seems pretty clear that PG would like to stay in LA but not at any cost, but since it hasn’t happened yet, I think that the odds may have dipped just under 50% that he stays in LA. The clippers certainly can give him everything he wants if they blink or maybe he agrees to some small concession, like a small non guarantee in the last year or doesn’t demand a no trade.

Scientifically, I would say it’s like 49% LA, 32% Sixers, 16% Orlando, 3% Other.

I think that a lot of what dragged his numbers down was what happened when Embiid was injured. He’s still a very uneven player and not someone I totally trust, but in the first couple months, he fit in perfectly and gave effort on defense, provided athleticism and shot when they needed it and didn’t get too thirsty. If that guy is still a reality, he would be worth it as a 5th starter/6th man.

Yes, they will sign Maxey to a max contract once they use up all of their cap space, which will probably be in less than a week. They will also probably re-sign any or all of batum, oubre, Lowry, melton, and Payne at that point too. So that should be 5-8 players on the roster plus probably 2 free agents and 2 exceptions if they structure it all right. Plus their draft picks and a few minimum guys and they will be all filled out.

If they don’t get George, the team probably won’t be any better than last year and they will have to hope they can make a big deal at the deadline (unless this markannen smoke has anything to it)

In 4 years the cap will be nearly $190 million and the luxury tax will be something like $240 million.

We are going to seem some things that seem like overpays the next couple days but with the small jump in cap this upcoming season and the guaranteed successive 10% cap jumps for the next 4 seasons after that, they will be relative bargains.

They need shooting and with Paolo and Franz as your building blocks, you don't have a ton of spots to add them outside of PG (FA class is awful) and a stretch 5 (I don't love Wendell Carter)

I have my concerns about Hartenstein as a fit in Orlando. He seems like a good player but if he can't shoot the 3, I am not interested.

2. Call up Utah and Milwaukee and see what it takes for Markinen or Lopez.

They need shooting and with Paolo and Franz as your building blocks, you don't have a ton of spots to add them outside of PG (FA class is awful) and a stretch 5 (I don't love Wendell Carter)

I have my concerns about Hartenstein as a fit in Orlando. He seems like a good player but if he can't shoot the 3, I am not interested.

Unless they are willing to forgo using their space this year at all, they are not going to have a lot of ways to add talent, after 2 years from now, assuming Paolo, Franz and Suggs get paid, so they may as well maximize this offseason even if it makes them expensive in two years

Yeah, I'm no cap guy, but from what I understand they can spend next offseason as well.

If they can convince Klay or KCP to do a 1-1 deal, this would be a way to see if Franz and Paolo can actually coexist in the playoffs. It's all about those 2 plus Suggs and then young guys. People forget they have 2 lottery guys basically just breaking in.

I'm all about adding talent but there is no perfect answer to their questions.
