2025 College Football Thread: Coach previously left at airport sparking bidding war amongst states with lowest SAT scores (19 Viewers)

Well that’s game. But I have to say that I’m pretty happy with how USC played in this one. Over 300 passing yards against the No. 2 passing defense, and despite the results, the defense actually did a bit better than I expected given Oregon’s vaunted rushing offense (and our suspect D). And all of the massive injuries definitely made this an uphill battle for the Trojans from the start.

Beat UCLA next week for a 9-3 season, close the books on the no. 1 recruiting class for 2026, and I’ll be okay with how the season went.

Good luck Oregon. I hope you run the table in the playoffs.

Why is USC going for two when down 8? Now you have to go for two to tie it. Riley is really dumb.

Philosophy is if you get it then 7 puts you ahead and no OT. If you don’t you try it again. The math is close and it’s not a bad play for an underdog on the road.
I don’t think momentum in college sports is accounted for enough when coaches blame analytics. Bridging a gap with an immediately deflating play seems unworthy of taking that gamble to me personally.

Good to see Michigan play a good game for once on the road. Perfect pre- the game outcome and it sounds like Marshall is no doubt going next week. Pass D is a little suspect but you know Wink will have something ready. Keep it close and let Day shat the bed.

USC has a great passing offense for sure. Both teams were short handed with injuries today. Oregon had their starting center, starting left tackle and starting right tackle go out injured today which really hurt their running game.

Is the UCLA game at home? I think you are a lock for winning our bet lol.

USC offense came out firing

Lemon is fun to watch

Lane must have had 200 yards receiving and another 100 yards of pass interference yards. I didn't hear Lemon's name too much and I don't think USC dressed a running back but Forest Whitaker played the role of Lane today. He dominated Oregon's ballyhooed secondary.

Bring on robot AI refs. Whatever that was today in Eugene was inexcusable.

Definitely what i was hoping to see heading into The Game (excluding Bredeson getting injured).

Finally here, been waiting all year for this week. A win against oSU* here will go a long way towards punching a ticket to the CFP. I'm already getting anxious. Does it got any better than this?

GO BLUE!!!!!

Special teams for usc was really, um, special today. That poor play was the difference along with a lot of dumb penalties on all sides of the ball. Oregon the better team.

What happened to him? Any idea? He's my favorite guy on that team to watch when they are on.

Yeah he's as old school as it gets. I'm not sure what's up with him, but he was on crutches on the sidelines. As long as it's just a matter of pain tolerance he'll be good to go i hope. Running game starts with him.

Is it also coincidence the offense played better without Semaj? I can't figure out why he still gets snaps. Maybe it was a benching disguised as injury.

He's been horrendous. I cringe every time he's on the field.

Why would FSU keep Norvell?

I noted watching the game yesterday how completely disinterested he seemed. He needs a new start and so do they. Odd decision.

Well it would cost allegedly 100M to buy him out and hire a new staff and the coaching candidates don’t seem great.

Obviously sucks, they’ll just fire him next year and waste everybody’s time until then.

Oof. Sorry go.

Really makes you wonder with Franklin, Kelly, Fisher, and Norvell how these massive guaranteed deals that hold schools hostage continue to happen. You’d think they will start to phase out as school learn (unless it’s a school giving an extension).

Maryland - Mich St will be played at Ford Field and ticket sales are not going well. They are buy two, get two free. Its the Big 10 version of the old Broken Windshield Special.
Went over my head, so...

The late Pete Axthelm used to dub late season NFL matchups between underperforming teams the "broken windshield special". Meaning if you were to leave two tickets to the game on the dashboard of your car, you'd come back you'll find that someone's broken the windshield and left two more.

Was hoping they bring back Jimbo. Is that bridge burned?

GM's Top 20 - November 24, 2025 - Fresh off the SEC Bye Week
1. Ohio State
- Survived against Rutgers
2. Indiana - Off last weekend and frankly this weekend too
3. Texas A&M - What is a Samford?
4. Georgia - You couldn't cover the spread, you donkeys?
5. Texas Tech - I see it's going swimmingly for Scott Frost at UCF
6. Oregon - Need to cleanup the penalties and there's some pass D concerns but this was the best win of the weekend
7. Ole Miss - It's a shame that a coaching distraction is overshadowing what this team has done to date
8. Oklahoma - Playing Iowa style football better than Iowa
9. Notre Dame - Did Fran Brown piss Marcus Freeman off or something?
10. BYU - Jumping them over Alabama even if I think Alabama would beat them by 20
11. Alabama - Had to explain to my 10 year old son what EIU was
12. Utah - Survived a shootout against a team that managed 14 against suckasssss Oklahoma State
13. Vanderbilt - I think they're a better team than Miami
14. Miami - Will need some help to sneak into contention with a coach who is prone to stubbing his toe
15. Michigan - Jumping them over Texas with a better record
16. Texas - I see the media love affair with Arch is back
17. Virginia - Is this the potential ACC champ?
18. Tennessee - A better team than its overall record I think
19. USC - Gave Oregon a real fight but just don't have the depth or the horses on defense
20. James Madison - I think it comes down to JMU or North Texas for the G5 playoff spot; I'll lean JMU for now

Dropping Out:

Georgia Tech
- Originally had them at 20 but wanted to include the playoff team from the lower divisions.

Just Missed:

Tulane
- 9-2 season and not a bad little football team.

College Football should scrap the Bowl Games for the teams that miss the playoffs and hold an NIT type tournament. Like a Toilet Bowl for the rest.

- Take say the next 18 teams that missed the cut. Invite only, determined by sponsors and the network that holds the tournament's.
- Teams that accept the invite have to pay an entry fee, say $1 million. This money goes into the kitty with the sponsorship money. Think like WSOP. You have to earn an invite but it ain't fee to play.
- Opening round winners secure a fraction of the pot for their NIL and play for a bigger slice the next week. Losers go home empty handed.
- Champion receives the bigger monetary prize for their NIL and the runner up does well too.

Nobody watches the bowl games. But people would watch this. Force teams to put some skin in the game if they participate. Not mandatory. Could create some solid momentum for winning teams going into the next season. Fans starved for more football have more to watch and the gamblers are happy too.

Make it happen.
