2025 Detroit Lions: 1-1 Lion crush Da Bears. Still seats available on the Bandwagon. (180 Viewers)

Thru 35 Career Games

Lions Aidan Hutchinson has more:
  • Sacks than Lawrence Taylor
  • QB Hits than Aaron Donald
  • TFLs than Julius Peppers
  • Pressures than Nick Bosa
  • Tackles than Michael Strahan
  • PBUs than Myles Garrett
  • Forced Fumbles than Reggie White
  • Interceptions than T.J. Watt
(actually AD had 3 more QB hits but still pretty good)

Aaron Glenn said today Carlton Davis gave the best breakdown of TB's receivers he's ever seen in the film room.

Says he wished he had taped it.

Was a good coach who was undermined by the villainous Russ Thomas.

Probably never a good idea to have a CPA running an NFL franchise

I'm saying that as a CPA so you know it's true
It was about the money and Old Man Ford was on board for that

Oh yeah

Never once did WCF put a regime in place that knew how to build it the right way

Sheila got it right on her first try
After 40 years of rooting for them, I quit on them before they brought in Sheila.. It was obvious to me, they didn't care about winning, just making money and I was done supporting that. I'm back on board with Sheila as she proved right away, she wants to win. And go figure, winning=money.

The Lions were an extremely frustrating franchise. I was calling them the worst organization in all of sports and hated Patricia with a passion. I stopped caring about the team the day Patrica threw away Slay. Sheila won me over immediately when she took over and fired Quintricia. Loved the Dan Campbell hire day 1. Loved Brad Holmes after watching him execute an outstanding draft, something the Lions never do. The passion he showed when getting Penei was infectious. The way he maneuvered around the draft knowing exactly what teams were thinking and getting very specific players was pure wizardry. It was abundantly clear the passion, work ethic, dedication, character and knowledge these leaders had and it all has to start at the top with Sheila and her vision.

Sheila's first hire was one of her best - Chris Spielman as her special Assistant. They were one half of the four person committee that identified Brad Holmes and, six days later, hired Dan Campbell.

Her parents were not good owners. She deserves a lot of credit for changing the culture and trusting the folks she has hired. None of this happens without her being the catalyst for transparency and accountability.

Holmes and Campbell have cultivated an atmosphere that players love and other teams envy. Both talented assistant coaches and players want to come to Detroit to be a part of this thing. That is unprecedented in our lifetimes.

The assistant coaches probably do not get talked about enough. Campbell started off with a few good pieces and each year has been upgrading. I liked that he wasn't afraid to fire the OC mid-season the first year. He cleaned house on the secondary staff after last season and brought in better talent. Positional group coaching is now outstanding everywhere. I am not completely sold on Aaron Glen, but he is improving. They should had been better defensively than they were last season, IMHO. The defense has good talent at all levels this season and should be top 10. We will see as the season progresses. There are a lot of ballhawks and hard hitters, we should be getting our share of sacks and turnovers.

Watch this when you get a chance - coach does a good job breaking down how AG was getting out coached last week. Running 4-3 base v 11 personnel, giving McVey/Stafford the pre-snap read through motion 90-95% of the time, etc. It has to be obvious to the players they're out of position but I don't know how much latitude Anzalone has to adjust the call.

most defensive pass rush team pressures week 1
  1. DAL 40
  2. SEA 29
  3. DET 27
Lions seemed close to having additional INTs. Due to the Rams OL issues we can’t be sure how good the pass rush is.

The Bucs should be a good all around test. I’m surprised Lions are a 71/2 point favorites. Bucs were a tough out last year and they are bringing back most everything regarding players and coaches from last year. Consistency is often underrated in evaluating a team’s prospects.

Lions looked rusty and they need to incorporate their new though more talented defensive backs into the defense.

Not liking my Bucs' chances this week, friends. Hoping they fight the good fight and get out of there without anyone else getting seriously injured. Hope to see you in the playoffs.

10am, my daughter calls me and says I just got 2 tickets to the game from her company from people who could not use them. They have a 8 month old baby and her husband says "take your dad"

Nothing felt good from the start. Goff was not sharp and really could have had 4-5 INTs. Play calling for the second week in a row was suspect. GD I was so pumped up but nothing was really in the groove the whole game on offense.

I know as I said before I get too emotional on game day and feel different after watching the game the next day. I don`t think I will tomorrow.

This. The Lions never tried to establish the run. Throwing 55 times isn't going to cut it. They looked very predictable and seemed to be in 2nd and long and 3rd and long the entire game. They didn't have any problem moving the ball but little breakdowns here and there were very costly in the red zone.

I couldn't agree more. Jahmyr Gibbs, through 2 games, has just 124 yards on 24 carries. They also need to use Sam LaPorta better and try to get him more catches. He only has 6 receptions for 58 yards in the first two games combined.

Have to admit Baker Mayfield has really turned his career around. Thought he would be a career backup. Watching him yesterday he seemed to go through his reads without panic and even thought got sacked was nimble in the pocket and ran when needed. TB looks like a good fit for him.

I had this game as a W before season. Hate losing an early season home game.

They played terrible on Offense, couldn't score in the red zone and refused to run Monty for some reason. Still should have won against a playoff team if they don't screw up the end of the 1st half. At least the D played well....

Hard to believe the Lions ran 40 more plays than the Bucs and lost.

When you have 7 red zone possessions you have to get at least 30 points. Getting only 2.3 points per red zone possession is about as bad as you can be. Should be getting a TD more than half the time and a FG when you don't.

The offense has about as much rhythm as me on the dance floor. With the amount of weapons we have scoring points should not be an issue. We have that game away, hopefully that feeling sparks some progress.

Lions have a difficult schedule. Don’t recall them having much success playing down in Arizona.
Arizona has some momentum right now. Will be a good test for team and Campbell after taking responsibility for the field goal blunder.

Last three years Lions have started the season 1-1. Offense going through a transition as Jamo takes a prominent role. Thought that they could beat the Bucs through the air. Bucs have been tough to run on in past. Accumulating 463 yards in offense is nothing to sneeze about but the red zone problems are a departure from last years success. Think they are shaking off some rust still as most teams this year are off to slow starts on offense.
Hope for a good showing in AZ a 1-2 start would be a disappointment but not a disaster we have a very good team. I’m looking forward to smacking the Bucs around if we should meet them in the playoffs.

Have no idea if this is the cause but seems like Goff is missing his safety valve in Josh Reynolds. Reynolds was a key third down move the chains guy for Goff.

Patrick has the potential to take on that role and hopefully does.

Reynolds was not that big of a deal. I think the bigger issue is LaPorta was hurt during camp and might still not be at full speed. It is not like that LaPorta was written out of the playbook, it is that he is not getting separation and his lack of any camp at all, put him behind. Also, our OL on pass protection has not been as good as advertised and Goff is having to throw the ball quicker than what he likes making him force too many of his passes.

Jesus christ is this avatar a picture of Charles?

After the first Arizona drive, the Lions only allowed 3 points and a little over 200 yards of total offense the rest of the game. The Lions even punted on 4th and 1 from midfield. Dare I say Dan Campbell put the game in the hands of the defense? That would have never happened before this season.

You know dam well DC wanted to go for it but it was smart to punt the way the defense was playing and Murray not being much of a passing threat. Turning it over on downs at midfield in a close game on the road would not have been good.

Marcus Davenport reportedly suffered a serious elbow injury. Par for the course for him and it really sucks because he has played very well.

Next man up.
