I love running through those draft scenario generators where accept or counter offer at every pick. Ya know Holmes could probably turn those 9 picks into 15 or 17 if he were as aggressive as I am.
People think I hate PFF because I don't regurgitate everything they put out as gospel, but they have a pretty cool draft simulator here:

It's a lot of fun. Kind of a Subscribers Contest in March/April to waste time on.

Anzalone and Walker resigned. Anzalone resigning is a disappointment. Dont know if he finished this way but had been leading NFL in missed tackles and he always ends up on IR by season's end.

But hopefully he brings depth, leadership and a buy in/experience with the new culture.

Speaking of hopefully, hope Lions can add Chalk or Gage to the WRs and can snag a safety and LB. We have a lot of money left as Jax and others spend big.

Also having a terrible defense results in the Lions being shown as a victimized team most every time the NFL Network shows highlights for each FA offensive player signing.

The burden of being a Lions fan.

We should be used to it by now. Almost every time someone gets into the HOF they show them scoring a TD against the Lions.

I only want a crummy WR like the guys you listed if they're available at significant discount.  And yes, I realize that crummy WRs are still an upgrade over the ####ty WRs currently rostered.

The good thing about those offensive highlights is that the Loins play against only 14 unique teams every year!

Chark for 1 year/10-12m.  I like that a lot.  If he can return to form, could be a big upside play with little risk.

Not a lot of WRs on the market, I was starting to think they would only be drafting. Add someone good there and definitely a better receiver room than last year.

I was underwhelmed with AA though I think from a leadership view he’s a favorite with the staff. Walker was their top priority resigning so good sign there.

Braxton Berrios is another WR they’re looking at, undersized but good returner/gadget guy with a lot of spirit. I could see him being a good fit with DC’s culture.

Amped about this, big physical receiver with a chip on his shoulder. When he’s healthy has been productive. Got a little to prove after the Urban head games about his work ethic.

Current Detroit Lions Offense

LG: Jonah Jackson
C  Frank Ragnow
RG: Hal Vaitai

Jags just spent 105 million for the law firm of Kirk, Jones, & Engram.  Should be less chance now of them poaching a receiver pick from the Lions with Jags picking directly in front of them in four rounds.

You all have a sweet deal at 32 and 34 with Jax sandwiched in between, I love No 34 being any QB that slips into the 2nd round that Detroit thinks has value or use that pick if a number of them are still on the board and slide back a few spots and then grab someone, even a back up for Goff in '22, sit and learn and have his bleed listening to Dan Campbell imploring his defense to bite some knee caps.

I think there are a couple gems in this bunch, Pickett is flying up my board, love that teams are down on him, could be a smoke screen. Steelers at No 20 might want him. And I understand Pickett is not on everyone's list.
My issue with Pickett  beyond the tiny hands and fumble problem (more 1 fumble every other game) is it took him 5 years post a good season. He was a pretty mediocre to bad starter in 2018, 19 and 20. He will be 24 by the time traning camp starts. I just don't see much upside with him.

Yeah Anzalone wasn't good on the field but like you said, he is a veteran leader and my guess is they hope he can mentor the younger LB group.

Great signing for both price and fit. He is exactly what the team needs. I just hope he has improved his toughness. The negative on him was mental toughness and an unwillingness to run block. Those could be issues with this current coaching staff.

What a deal on Charles Harris. He signed a 2 year, $14 million deal. Meanwhile Randy Gregory just signed a $13 million PER year deal.

Agree. Pickett reminds me of Bridgewater who also has to wear 2 pairs of gloves because of hand size.  23 year old QB blowing up in his last year is someone to be doubting.

I think run blocking is going to be a requirement for receivers they draft. Chalk is being given a one year tryout to see if he fits.

Will be interesting to see what defense looks like after draft. Lions will be using most of their draft choices there. Odds against going QB early. Think they may be interested in a QB like Eleby or Perry in late rounds.

Bringing back a bottom rung #2 qb like Boyle makes this more possible than if they signed a more expensive guy to maybe challenge Goff for the #1 spot. Easy enough player to cut or banish to the practice squad if someone is drafted.

LOVE the Chark move for us. Not so much for him as a dynasty owner.

This guy was legit good the last time he had any semblance of a decent O around him and a QB who wasn’t just a game manager and that was really just a bad gunslinger in Bortles.

He’s got talent and all the measurables, he will improve our offence, there just won’t be gaudy numbers with Goff at QB. He’ll do a good job of stretching the field and be a genuine threat on the odd occasion Goff goes deep and he is all round good enough to help with intermediate targets. For ASB and Hockenson owners he also won’t do much to damage their outputs and could likely help them by being a more credible  danger to the defence than we’ve had previously.

Chark - ASB - Reynolds

Hockenson

Swift for targets

is a decent enough receiving threat.

new rookie

Kalif Raymond ( I actually really like Raymond, he’s got decent hands and he always looks like he’s got juice when he’s running in the open field )

But still bottom what.. 5 in the league?

They need a weapon, and I don't buy Chark/Reynolds.
Woods would be an interesting reuniting with Goff.  But might have to settle for a draft pick or two, not a lot on the FA market this year.

Was hoping V-Scantling was resigned by GB as I do not think too much of him.

Shaping as a big run on WRs in bottom third of draft's first round.

The Lions have so many different directions they could go with the #2 pick. It could be very interesting what happens there. With Sheila and Holmes talking about patience and the sustained build, Lions could draft the best player on their board regardless of need.

Lions spending FA frugally but prudently. Lions have been trying to land a FA LB and its said to be a buyers market. May wait for a bargain signing. The Hughes signing for CB is solid but a limited upgrade.

Looking forward to the draft and wish Lions still had their 4th and 5th round picks to date have not gotten value for them in Barnes and Benson. But there's still time for development.

Half the first round may be wide receivers thanks to this off-season. I hope they are able to garner more picks by trading down from two but I am not optimistic the right deal comes along. I agree about the 4th/5th rounders, would rather have the picks.

Lions sign Jarrad Davis to one year deal. This is strange as he busted for both Lions and Jets. Was just terrible in NY and was injured for half the season.

They must have got him real cheap. Would like to know K details and guaranteed money.

Bringing back players from failed Lions's defenses requires a leap of faith. Must feel that they can "coach him up".

The only thing I can think of is they want to use Davis as a pass rush only LB.   Davis has speed and power but was not good in coverage at all.

Saleh coach of Jets says that Lions signing Davis was a good upside move.

“I love JD,” Jets coach Robert Saleh said. “I thought he was going to have a really good year. He had a really good OTAs, was having a really good training camp. Obviously, he hurt his ankle and really rushed himself back to be a part of the team. Any issues that he may have had during the season were really him playing on a bum ankle.

“Really excited for him to go back to Detroit and get another opportunity. Really thought he was going to have a good year last year before that injury. Tremendous individual, has his head in a really good spot, so really excited for him and his (opportunity).”

So why didn't the Jets resign him? Lions offer more money? Or coachspeak.

Probably A little of both.

This means they're going to #### it all up and take a QB, right?
If they are in love with Malik Willis then it would be smart to take him. However, it seems much more likely that the Lions take a DE. I say it every year but a small trade back would be really nice this year.

I'm a big fan of them leaving the door open to the possibility that they might take Willis to improve their chances of trading down.

If they actually do it, I'll be pissed.

They don’t seem to be trying to send the message they want Willis. They weren’t one of the teams sending HC and GM or other prominent names to his pro day. Though that could be a smokescreen and they do actually want him. I just hope this is the year they can pull off a trade back.

Who would a team be trading up for at 2? Probably not a QB (Willis), maybe Hutchinson.
Would be Willis imo but no way the final offer comes until the Jags pick. You can’t make a big move up to 2 only for another team to jump you by trading with the Jags.

I hope someone trades for either pick. Best case would with the Lions, but consolation prize would be Hutchinson.

Great point. I think a very realistic trade for Detroit would be something with Atlanta (who can jump division rival Carolina). We send pick 2, pick 97 and pick 177 for pick 9, 43, and 2023 1st.

Just to screw around with it, I did a little mock to see how it could look
1.9 Travon Walker DE-  ultra athletic and can play multiple positions on the DL

1.32 Dax Hill S- has experience and skills to play slot CB or CF safety, like Walker he instantly improves the speed at defense

2.02 George Pickens WR- he might be kind of redundant with DJ Chark in year one as a long bodied vertical threat but he has the upside to be a true #1 WR, plus he is a dog in the blocking game which seems perfect for the Campbell Lions

2.11 Chad Muma LB-  Senior Bowl standout who (getting the theme here) brings not only size but speed, has a knack for making big plays

3.02 Greg Dulcich TE- Nice all round athlete, gives some flexibility for more 2 TE sets, gives us a back-up plan for when negotiating with Hock (or if Hock gets hurt again)

Easier said than done to pull off that trade but I would be through the roof.
