2025 Detroit Lions: 4-1 Lions win battle of the big cats. (78 Viewers)

Can almost guarantee it will be one of the night games, networks love these storylines.

Guarantee it will be the prime-time game. They will play this up more than Swift-Kelce.
Saturday Sunday or Monday?
Won’t be Monday. They will only put a 4-5 matchup on MNF so they can set the divisional schedule Sunday night. Hope it’s not Saturday because that will mean it’s on Peacock. So … Sunday night?

Ugh, Rams. Got to think there’s a lot more pressure on Goff than Stafford. Goff is the jilted lover of the two and Lions are the higher seeding and expected to win. I expect Stafford to play loose and fizz bombs all over the place tbh. We are going to have to outshoot them, but also critically eat clock up by using our running game.

Is what it is. Bring it on !!

Hard to think of anyone outside of Goff and ARSB who would be a bigger loss for this team heading into the playoffs
Hutch
Sutton
Sewell
Ragnow
Decker

For sure. But laporta's a big loss - Mitchell will have to step up.
What about Brock Wright? Is he still injured? Off fulfilling his destiny as a porn star?
What was impressive to me, was how they had obviously schemed for the potential to have LaPorta off the field with how they immediately pivoted to Skipper. The catch was fun, but the block on the motion was awesome as he was a man possessed on the block and push for the TD. He, at least, gives them some jumbo blocking flexibility; likely to double Donald.

Last year (pre LaPorta/post Hock) it seemed like they got decent production out of a variety of guys. It was only one play but Mitchell made a real nice snag of a high pass in the middle of the field yesterday.

Inline Mitchell should be OK. The Slot & Wide alignments where LaPorta runs in breakers will be missed.

Firsker probably gets called up, signing Daniels or Ertz might be in the cards. But nobody will have the same kind of YAC.

Jamo, Josh & DPJ need to do a little more.

OL pass blocking was better yesterday (esp. on the interior) but struggling a bit in the running game the last few weeks. Rams have gotten production out of rookie DL Kobie Turner & Byron Young.

The Lions have opened as 3.5-point favorites against Matthew Stafford and the Rams

Mullen has had almost 800 yards passing in 2 games vs Detroit. What will the O/U be for Stafford?

Need to tighten up the back end and hopefully force Stafford into some INTs with the pass rush. LaPorta will be missed but Lions have had the "Next man up" mentality. Thinking the DPJ can take LaPorta place on the plays he is split out.

We really need to get a kicker. I expect this game to be close and we have to have someone that can be counted on to make a kick. I don't care if he has a big enough leg to kick a 55-yarder but for goodness sakes get someone that can make a kick from 50 or less.

Hard to believe as good as Holmes is he has not made a point to address the kicker spot. Pretty sure that will be a priority this offseason.

In Coach's presser where he addressed LaPorta he used the same "bad, but not as bad as it looked" on Raymond. Craig Reynolds and DPJ likely share returns Sunday, but if JAMO is a go, its quite the risk/reward proposition to have him handle some returns as LAR Evans has given up the 3rd most return yards this season.

ETA, the link above takes for ever to load, here is a paste of the top 10 Punters filtered by total return yards:

I'm not seeing it unless he has practiced on the return teams, which is highly unlikely imo. In addition, his importance on offense just went way up.

Given his experience, I expect DPJ to return punts

Kicker? We don't need no stinking kicker!

People assume last week we should have taken the 'sure' overtime last week, but yet we have missed 4 times this season.

The Commanders aren't wasting time:

They've requested interviews with #Lions OC Ben Johnson and DC Aaron Glenn for their head coaching job, per sources.

The Spirit of Detroit got fitted for a Lions jersey and the Lafayette Tower will be getting some Honolulu blue lighting this week as the city readies for its first NFL playoff game in three decades.

At least we're not as bad as the Rams, who cut their K last week after he went 2/4 on XPs and nearly cost them the Giants game

JJ Watt
Aaron Donald
Maxx Crosby

and now those two.

Obv 17 games helps

I realize the Rams are much better now than their overall average, but every single stat there is advantage Lions.

I just saw a scroll on NFL Network that says MRI confirms hyperextended knee and bone bruise for Sam LaPorta. I haven't seen or heard anything from the locals here.

They are wasting their time with Ben Johnson. Ben will only leave for a good situation. Washington organization is a cluster.

Stafford is the equalizer though. Late in the game, if it is close, the Rams have the advantage.

I'm really hoping this is the week that James Houston returns, even if it's only for 10-15 snaps on passing downs.

Not likely per Dan Campbell, though he will practice this week.

He said Jamo and Brock Wright will practice, looking promising but we’ll see how the week goes.

Cominsky was a healthy scratch (not illness) but just wanted to get him some rest bc he’s been feeling beat up and sore.

MCDC said today he’s got an outside shot, Kalif may be a bit further out. Said they’ll know more in 48 hours “but the good news it it looks like days, not weeks.”
Well we know Honest Dan will want the opposing team to know every detail on whether they are playing or not.

They used to be a cluster, but getting rid of Snyder solves 90% of that problem. Getting rid of Rivera solved the other 10%.
