2025 MVP Race. Wildest ever? (1 Viewer)

Here in mid October, the clear favorites are Baker and Danny.

Some other really good candidates, like Sam Darnold, Stafford, and Jared Goff.

Of the pre-season favorites, Allen and Mahomes still have a shot. Lamar, Burrow, and Hurts do not.
Mahomes' only wins so far were against Russell WIlson and the broken Ravens. They might be about to be 2-4.

Allen is probably the betting favorite right now. But they still haven't beaten a good team. Drake just beat them and might already have a better MVP case.

Anyway, seems to be heading towards the wildest race in a long time.

Heck, there's a world where even Rodgers gets into this discussion.

AFC North is suddenly garbage. PIT could certainly go 13-4. Rodgers could put up 30-6. Even with low yardage, that could get him into the conversation (if Allen doesn't run off with it).

I haven't looked today, but Allen was still the betting favorites going into the week and Mahomes was second.
I'm sure.

But as of this recording, it's mid-October and neither Allen or Mahomes have beaten a good football team yet.

Mahomes could do it tonight.

Allen won't get a chance until November (Chiefs on 11/2, Bucs on 11/16).

Baker has already beaten a couple.

Gonna be fun to see how this plays out.

I’d say Baker and then Allen at the moment but lots of games to be played. This feels like the most wide open competition in years for the NFL (and for MVP), both AFC and NFC are filled with teams with flaws. Some traditional powerhouses are struggling and others that looked ready to take the next step have been hit with injuries.

Still time for some teams to get healthy and for others to right the ship (its pretty early and teams hot right now will cool off in a month most likely) but if I’m a fan of any bubble team, I really want to make the playoffs this year… i feel like the teams that are gonna be the division winners and top seeds are going to be exceptionally vulnerable this year to “Any Given Sunday…”

Love it.

Baker may be leading it, but there are about 8 guys in the conversation now, or about to enter It.

Not even including 3 guys that are perennially part of the conversation and were considered top 5 candidates entering the season (Lamar, Hurts, Burrow).

Whoever wins this is going to reach out and take it down the stretch.

Long ways to go, but if the voting ended today it's Baker for me and it's not even close.

He's lost his top RB, linemen, WRs, no problem. The definition of carrying if I've ever seen one.

Can't you make an argument for either Burrow or Lamar based on how their teams are totally tanking without them? I know it doesn't work that way though.

I’m rooting for Baker. He’s my second favorite QB behind Josh. I love the narrative of the Browns replacing a future MVP with a complete dud. Then throw in the price that was paid for the dud.

Baker, Maye. Mahomes are currently top 3.

I'd vote Mahomes, Dak, Baker right now, in that order.
Dak should garner no votes for MVP. Offensive player of the year sure but not MVP. He's the lipstick on the pig at this point and his value is the Cowboys lose close high scoring games rather than being blown out. Otherwise Dallas would lose just fine without him as they are with him.

Bucs still have the Lions, Patriots, and Bills on their schedule. Looks like it will be settled on the field. Hope Baker has a few weapons back for the Bills and Pats games.

Wirfs was out 3 weeks
Goedeke has been out since week 2
Mauch out for the year
Mike went out week 3
Godwin out
Egbuka out
McMillan out
Irving out

4 4th quarter comebacks and several signature plays. Pretty incredible what Baker has done.
