2025 NASCAR Thread - 24FORSURE is running away with the fantasy leeg (3 Viewers)

I had to record the race because we were driving back from seeing our daughter. I am always really careful with recordings to make sure there is enough run-over time so I don't miss something. HOWEVER--I watch the four hours of the race and right as it got to 2 laps to go, it shut off. I can't tell you how :mad: I was. If there is a wreck to be had, Stenhouse will be involved in it somehow.....

Did you end up seeing the last 2 laps?
;)

Thoughts on Chastain?
I think he's a tool. Those comparing him to #3 should be ashamed.

Don't get me wrong, I like aggressive drivers, but he seems a bit too aggressive far too often.
Yeah, #3 was more strategic with is aggressiveness. Ross just seems to run people over the entire time. Just my 02
Feels like Chastain has backed off lately, have not seen him in a competitive position the last couple races.

Interesting https://www.sportsbusinessjournal.c...car-24-hours-le-mans-international-talks.aspx

NASCAR’s experience in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race has already sped up multiple negotiations for international expansion, and there’s even a hope that it impressed prospective carmakers, according to sources. These are some of the earliest tangible signs of business success coming out of last week’s event, in which NASCAR partnered with Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet and Goodyear to enter its seventh-generation stock car in the 100th running of race.

NASCAR, which is trying to grow its global popularity, was widely viewed as one of the stars of the show, as fans onsite and on social media proved to be largely delighted at the sight of the rumbling, hulking stock car competing on the same track as high-pitched and more diminutive sports cars for the first time since 1976. IMSA President John Doonan, whose sports car series is owned by NASCAR and was deeply involved in the effort, wouldn’t reveal the original budget of the project and whether NASCAR and HMS were able to keep to it. But he said in an interview with the N.Y. Times last week that millions of dollars were invested, and he added to SBJ: “Going to Le Mans with any style of project is a significant investment. … (It’s) not a cheap venture.”

But Doonan, speaking in a phone interview from Amsterdam, said he was pleased that the project was “so overly well received” and that NASCAR Chair & CEO Jim France and HMS Owner Rick Hendrick had called it a legacy moment for their respective organizations. “Even more so was the media coverage -- that was probably the biggest thing. That far surpassed expectations. … It’s pretty exciting to know that we achieved and maybe far surpassed our expectations,” Doonan said.

On the social media side TikTok’s search results show that there have been 18.6 million views of content related to “NASCAR Garage 56 .” (Garage 56 is the program's name, taking its moniker for the space given to the "innovative" entry at Le Mans.) Google Trends data shows that June 2023 is tracking to be the month with the most U.S. interest in the 24 Hours of Le Mans since its records began in 2004. On linear TV, MotorTrend averaged 161,000 viewers, up 59% from 101,000 last year.

MANUFACTURING INVESTMENT: NASCAR and IMSA execs did meet with carmakers who were at Le Mans, and Doonan noted that maybe the ultimate ROI for this project would be if “maybe another OEM would see the reaction of the audience and see NASCAR as a worthy investment for their marketing programs.” NASCAR has three OEMs in Chevrolet, Ford and Toyota -- and it’s tried fruitlessly for over a decade to add a fourth, so anything that generates positive momentum for such talks is hugely important. It’s unlikely that the Garage 56 entry would be enough to convince a new carmaker to join, but NASCAR feels the race showcased the international viability of its product. It’s also been working on international expansion plans, adding a new series in Brazil this year, talking with Montreal about adding a Cup race next year and holding discussions with entities in the Middle East and India, among other developments. SBJ understands that the abundantly positive reception of the Garage 56 program has now advanced some of those talks just within the last week.

UNCERTAIN FUTURE: Whether NASCAR works with Chevrolet or its other OEMs on another project like this in the future is to be determined. Also unclear is what NASCAR will do with its Garage 56 social media accounts; the Instagram account has 84,200 followers, and the Twitter account has 32,500 followers. The France family owns both NASCAR and IMSA, and Doonan noted it’s long been a goal of Jim France’s to have the properties work more closely together and share resources, “so for me that is a big win that we showed that NASCAR and IMSA can come together and execute a project like this and experience the success we did.” Naturally, Doonan is also hopeful some hardcore NASCAR fans will now pay more attention to his sports car series as well. Meanwhile, there will be an Amazon Prime Video documentary on Garage 56 and there’s also preliminary plans for a commemorative book.

There may be a window of opportunity for NASCAR to race in Europe to fill the void of F1 chasing the almighty dollar in the Middle East and USA. Germany and France are off the calendar with Belgium potentially joining them next year. The mostly German DTM touring car championship has also fallen on tough times after manufacturers left the series.

It's still going to be expensive for NASCAR to race overseas. Logistics are a huge issue and they'll have to block out two weeks from an already congested schedule. There's also a potential backlash from core fans who think there are already too many road races.

The Xfinity series have already put on a good show in Montreal. Mexico is also a natural target due to the popularity of Daniel Suarez.

Bump for the final four finale in Fhoenix.

I've never been a fan of the one race championship format but it seems even staler this year for some reason.

Interesting to seen Amazon and Warner Bros bidding on a NASCAR package.

Changing gears to Daytona, in my opinion it would be exciting as heck to see Chase Elliot in the top three in the final laps this weekend. He has to win to make the playoffs.
Prime is getting 5 races and Warner Bros is getting 5 races in 2025. Total deal is more revenue for NASCAR.

Practice and qualify will also be on both channels.

I had so much family stuff going on the last round I barely saw the last 2 or 3 races. I’m an Elliot fan, so him being out of contention was a bummer for me too.

More races I'll end up not watching now

ANyone watch the Netflix series - it was decent. And maybe its me but I thought Hamlin looked way worse as a person after it

maybe a shortened even on Monday AM?

I'm sure they'll try to get all 500 miles in during the holiday Monday. The following week's race is at Atlanta unlike previous years where the haulers had to head out to California after the 500.

Haven't watched it, but I am really starting to sour on Denny as it is. He is the first to cry when something happens to him, but when he wrecks another driver, it's just "good ole racing". Then his comments after the race last weekend. "I think I just beat your favorite driver again." I guess, but why don't you finish out a championship before you start talking so much trash. His act is getting old.

Daytona week

Wed: Qualifying
Thu: Duels
Fri: Trucks
Sat: Xfinity
Sun: The 500

Rain is in the forecast for the weekend ☔
Just realized I may miss FS1 after cutting the cable. Is there a way to get FS1 or an alternative way to watch these duels?

Anyone bet NASCAR using online apps? I used to be a huge fan, but have barely watched over the last 3-5 years. I love the research side of legal sports betting and am giving NASCAR a whirl to see jf having skin in the game will give me a rooting interest to start watching again. From what I have read up on, spreading bets over "units" similar to NFL betting is the way to go, versus all in on any given driver. So, below is what I have bet for Sunday's Race (same dollar amount on each).

Daytona 500
Byron Top 5+200
Chevy (Manu) Win+150
Logano Top 3+400
Elliott Top 3+400
Dinger Top 3+1400
Blaney Top 5+150
Bush Top 5+135
Kezalowski Top 5+150
Johnson Top 5+850
Dinger Top 5+700

Monday looking like almost a sure thing. Got down here yesterday and weather was awesome compared to the northeast but everyone we’ve talked to and every TV station say Sunday is a complete washout. Monday looking pretty good as of now.

FanDuel voided their bets due to their rule that a postponed event must be started within 24-hours of the originally scheduled time, so I reapplied the money voided and spread it over more bets on DraftKings; some based on what I heard on the FX1 broadcast today. Should be fun to watch tomorrow!

I thought it was solid and came out liking him. I watched because one of my clients started sponsoring a car so went to a couple races this year. My dad and I watched every race as a kid, I may get back into that now.

Boyer and or Harvick even made a comment like: “ I can’t believe I’m saying this, but the big winners out that wreck wa a Hendricks Motors”… or something to that effect. Like that was the worst outcome that could have happened. :lmao:

Well Chevy was the underdog for the race. Fords dominated speed weeks
I have to admit, that Darkhorse Ford looks like it’s going to be very good.
