2025 NASCAR Thread - 24FORSURE is running away with the fantasy leeg (1 Viewer)

I had a 2 point lead last week. Now it is 38. Would have been more if Bowman had not blown his engine. He was third at the time and ended up 37th. Those stage points and bonus points add up quickly.

I should probably just drop out. I really don't pay attention at all

After week 3 it's been all whatever was in there

When did Bristol become a
I Remember when bump and run was a thing.
Now everyone just gets out of the way
Feels like there have been some dominant performances at Bristol since they switched to this car. Tire fall off didn’t impact this race.

NASCAR has thrown annual changes at it but the current car still doesn't race well on short tracks.

I think the Bristol night race still has decent attendance but there were a lot of empty seats on Sunday.

The empty seats are what struck out to me.
I remember Bristol being the hardest track to get a ticket. :kicksrock:

And also what's with the constant who's in a Ford or a Chevy or a Toyota? Is that purely a $$$ marketing thing or is there some reason why viewers should care?

It matters on a superspeedway like Talladega because it impacts drafting and pit strategy. Of course it's also a $$$ marketing thing because the manufacturers pay the bills.

When it comes to the end and you have 3 Chevy's and a Ford, with this lineup

Ford Chevy
Chevy Chevy

That inside Chevy won't be pushing that Ford

cursory analysis this was a low scoring race for everyone. Didn’t see a lap as was coming back from camping. Two way race for the top and then a clump of three.
Looks like the Ryan Preese suspension hurt a couple of us.
I had forgotten to set my lineup as I am on vacation. Remembered 30 minutes before the race luckily.

I forgot too. Son has a soccer game and did not get back until after race started.

Normally the last lap or two at the super speedways have more action.
Everyone stayed in a perfect line until after the last turn, with only a few moving outside the main lane.

This season, more than any recent ones, has become the nice guy club.
Everyone racing for points, rather than pushing to win. :frown:

I didn’t catch that, wow. Haven’t listened to my post race podcast yet.

It was nice for a change to not have a bunch of late race cautions on a superspeedway.

2004 Daytona is the last time you had such a clean finish at a super speedway according to the tear down podcast.

Weirdly the XFinity races have seemed more exciting to me. Idk enough to know why. But there's more action.
Because the NextGen cars suck. Xfinity cars are better.

The current gen Cup cars race pretty well except on short tracks.

Xfinity races seem exciting because they almost always finish under GWC becaure there are so many late race cautions caused by overambitious moves.

Only half way through this race and already two of my drivers out of the race. At least one had stage points. Cry baby Denny sucks.

Now this is racing. Making moves, sometimes putting themselves in the wall.

A lot more aggressive driving out there today then the last 3 races combined :drive:

Had a great time at the race today. First race for my daughter and one of my nephews. Beautiful weather and we were in the shade so it was perfect.

Race had a little bit of everything in it. Team chaos got their crashes in stage 3. Spent a lot of time watching Blaney get into range in stage 2.

Legano fan in front of us had a good day. He changed shirt and cap at each stage.

Let me give you guys a heads up Jean shorts are coming back in style! Equal number of men and women wearing them.

Did you tailgate before hand or just go to see the race. We always loved camping overnight and spending the whole day before the race enjoying the festivities. We had just as much fun doing that as the actual race.

No we were just there for the day. But there were lots of RVs and tailgating. I thought it was a really good crowd. They were engaged all day.

Didn’t catch any of the race, thoughts?

i wish the league site provided more stats, like be able to tell from a glance changes in the rankings. Looks like 24 is solidly in first but the rest of us are separated by few points.

I only caught part of it too because was out at dinner for Mother’s Day for most of it. I watched more of the truck race on Saturday and that one was pretty exciting. Riggs made up a lot of ground in the last 5-10 laps to catch up to Hocevar, and they made contact on the last lap, but Hocevar able to hold on.

I agree that it would be nice to see the change in standings, or points from week to week. If do it again next year, may have to see what else is out there.

Not sure if it's the changes to the next-Gen cars or what but races have been pretty much  the last month +
Texas was fun but otherwise everyone seems more worried about getting points, rather than the win.

Whatever the points are for 1st, they should triple them and if you don't finish in the top 5 no points for you :bye:

Looking at going to the race in Richmond this summer with my son. Anyone been there and suggest section to go for?
Not sure on section but was impressed with parking. If you can go early and be part of the infield at all it's a really fun atmosphere.

Not sure of much else because I was there with a client as guests of one of the race teams, but we had a blast.

That is cool. I was thinking of heading down for the truck race the night before too. So, could look into the infield.

I think they are only messing with tires at short tracks right? So if you don’t have tire fall off as the X factor the cars are equal. Whoever gets clean air can clampdown and hold the lead until restarts.

After Allstar break the next couple of races are on Amazon prime.

We used to go for two days and camp out. The whole day before the main race is full of fun activities at the track. Lots of free stuff given away and lots of nice exhibits to see and tour.

I agree on the points thing. So many just race for points now. Not as much " rubbing is racing" like it used to be. On the other end of the spectrum, crashing out and finishing 30th really kills you in points.

Really hate the Streaming crap, and I have Prime.
I get they want to reach the dreaming crowd, but would be nice if they weren't exclusive.

Points racing has always been a part of NASCAR. It had more significance when it was part of a season-long championship.

I follow the sport pretty closely but I couldn't tell you what happens with points once the playoffs start other than the regular season leader gets some extra playoff points.

Penske penalties

Performance gains from the modified attenuators were probably minor at best but the perception of Penske and his ownership of the series means that heads had to roll after this on top of the push to pass violations last year.

Time will tell if Austin Cindric good enough to keep his Cup seat without the nepotism.

Larson’s double

Hope he gets to actually do it this year. ☔

Shwartzman

There aren't a lot of surprises in modern racing. The teams with the most resources and experience usually prevail.

Shwartzman's pole is the most unexpected result in any motorsports in recent memory. There have been surprising winners on NASCAR superspeedways which are sort of a crapshoot to begin with and there have been shock wins due to weather conditions or alternate pit strategies. But Indy qualifying is a lot less random than a full race. I wasn't that surprised by Shwartzman's top 12 run on Saturday because he got a good draw and ran early but to top that off with two faster runs is just incredible.

I'm happy to see PREMA shake up the Indycar old guard. It'll be a good result if they can get both cars to the finish on race day but they've already made their mark.
