Hollywood has seen its fair share of odd couplings, but this one is so out there even the newlyweds know it's a little weird.

Doug Hutchison, a character actor best known for roles in The Green Mile, Lost and The X-Files, married aspiring country singer Courtney Alexis Stodden on May 20 in Las Vegas.

He is 51. She is 16.

Is there something fishy about it? In an exclusive statement to E! News, the couple insists there's not.

With Stodden, a former beauty pageant queen, trying to position herself as a potential Nashville star, you might think there's more to the story than middle-age actor marrying pretty teenager (and that's a lot of story, itself). However, the newlyweds tell us they're just mad about each other.

"We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial," the couple said through their spokeswoman.

"But we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."

That is not what a 16 year old girl should look like.

That is not what an aspiring country singer should sound like.

Why does a 16 year old think that it is a good idea to get married to anyone, let alone someone in their 50s?

 
It' weird that the fact she looks way older than she is and he looks way younger seems to justify it for people, but it does. :shrug:

That said, my prediction is actually that she gets to 21 years old, realizes she wants another dude, and crushes his "ageless loving" heart.

That would mean that their marriage would last longer than most. I'd be shocked if they were still married when she was 21. I'd also be shocked if I ever heard another word about either one of them after this thread dies.
 
I doubt she's 16, this seems like a story cooked up to get them in the news.

ETA I doubt she's even young as 21, this reeks of a 30s something woman wanting to feel younger.

Yeah, I can't believe he is 51 now. I figured he was early to mid 20s when he played one of the rapists in A Time to Kill, so he would have been close to or around 30 at the time of The Green Mile, meaning he'd be early 40s now. He is obviously aging well, in more ways than one. :lol:
 
Seems that her age is still an open question. Her mother has been quoted as saying she has had absolutely no work of any kind done.

"We are totally supportive of this marriage," Courtney's mother Krista Stodden exclusively told RadarOnline.com about her daughter's marriage to the Green Mile and X-Files actor.

"Doug is a wonderful man and we love him."

The happy couple tied the knot in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 20, and Krista confirmed that at least one parent had to sign the permission form for the marriage to take place.

"They are very much in love and we are so supportive of this," Krista gushed about her blushing bride daughter.

Critics are already questioning the couple's 35 year age difference, but her mother wanted to set the record straight.

"Courtney was a virgin when she married Doug. She is a good Christian girl."

Meanwhile the happy couple said: "We're aware that our vast age difference is extremely controversial, but we're very much in love and want to get the message out there that true love can be ageless."

With long blonde hair and a killer body, Krista also wants people to know that her daughter hasn't had any plastic surgery. "She is a beautiful girl. She has real breasts, real lips, she's not plastic."
