#6 pick in FBG/FFPC (the wait on QB strategy) (1 Viewer)

I posted in the FBG forum but it doesnt seem very many people visit that area. I drafted 6th in a draft the other night and would love some input.

I decided going in to wait on a QB so I didnt pick one up until the 11th.

My picks:

LeSean McCoy (1) RB

Steven Jackson (2) RB

Dwayne Bowe (3) WR (there was a strong run on WR's right before my pick so didnt have a lot of other options)

Felix Jones (4) RB

Stevie Johnson (5) WR

Mario Manningham (6) WR

Rob Gronkowski (7) TE

Tim Hightower (8) RB

Roy Williams (9) WR

Willis McGahee (10) RB

Matthew Stafford (11) QB

Greg Olsen (12) TE (this pick is starting to look pretty good considering the new OC in Carolina was a TE coach-- a lot of people are ignoring this I believe)

Emmanuel Sanders (16) WR

Shaun Hill (18) QB (most controversial pick. done as insurance in case stafford is hurt early but I probably could have taken Hass here)

My most likely lineup out of the gates is:

Stafford

McCoy, Jackson, Felix Jones, Hightower

Bowe, Stevie Johnson or Manningham

Gronkowski

My opinion: Love my RB's, I like my WR's but I did get two boom or bust guys as my top 2 in Bowe and Johnson and Ill have to sit Johnson in two games against Revis but I figure at least one of the others guys will work out extremely well (probably Manningham), I like my TE's especially olsen so late -- I think a lot of folks are sleeping on him, I like my QB in Stafford but if I were to redo the draft I would have picked a backup earlier-- lesson learned.

Nice job, and this validates what I have been saying in other draft review threads: there is solid value at QB after round 8.GL

I agree on the QBs. I may have taken Brady if we would have fallen all the way to my spot in the 6th but otherwise it seems to pay off to wait unless you really want Vick or Rodgers.

Don't get me wrong, I love Stafford for top 5 potential this season, but in the league I own him in, I took his as my backup to Romo. (Romo round 6 & Stafford round 8) Dynasty.

They have a week 9 bye and I have Hill in case of a Stafford injury so Im OK until then as far as Im concerned. Ill obviously have to go to the waiver wire at some point to get another QB but I suspect Ill have a good idea early on who might be a suitable replacement once injuries kick in.
