These are the opposite of killer intro songs, btw.
Try to avoid harder rock bands that simply released 1 ballad and focus on bands that encompassed the genre throughout most of their catalog. The below will give a good idea of what I'm after here...
My Selections:
Wings/Paul McCartney - "Silly Love Songs" - Love the harmonies on this one, how Paul plays bass licks like that and sings at the same time is pretty amazing
Ambrosia - "How Much I Feel" - Interchangeable with "Biggest Part Of Me" IMO
Elvin Bishop - "Fooled Around And Fell In Love" - Boogie Nights elevates this one
Rod Stewart - "Tonight's The Night" - I don't even really like this song
The Bee Gees - "More Than A Woman" - An outlier to the other songs in that the BeeGees are primarily known for their Disco, but this is their best song.
Van Morrisson - "Tupelo Honey" -
Todd Rundgren - "Hello, It's Me" - Better than that steaming pile of crap, Bang The Drum All Day song. Key changes are cool throughout the second half of the song, it continually shifts down a half step in the key it originally starts out in.
Player - "Baby Come Back" - All I think of now is that Swiffer Commercial when I hear this
Paul Davis - "I Go Crazy" - This one kind of sucks
Gary Wright - "Dream Weaver" - Still rocks, ubiquitous song within this genre
Orleans - "Dance With Me" - Meh
Pablo Cruise - "Love Will Find A Way" - I think I hate this song
Pure Prairie League - "Amie" - Good tune, way over played and over covered
Dave Mason - "We Just Disagree" - No opinion, but felt it fit the genre well.
For some reason I forgot my favorite of the entire genre (thanks Andy)
Little River Band - Reminiscing - Little River Band is apparently a super group. I did not know that. Glenn Shorrock is supremely under-rated as a singer. Guy hits every note perfectly. Harmonies on this are near perfection as well. One of my favorite songs ever.
Going to throw these into a Spotify playlist along with your suggestions later today for other fans of the genre.
