I wonder how many of the surviving players are getting a bit worried.

Also, is NE officially in Mercury Morris' neighborhood now? I do not look forward to 2 weeks of this schmuck... :football:

Yeah, but they don't have a paper bag over their logo. Ahhh burnnnnnn!
18-1 is sure gonna sting
I'm as phin loyal as it gets, but I am not blind. And I place no asterix. The '07/'08 pats are the best team I have ever seen in the NFL.The pats are going to DESTROY the Giants and go unbeaten.

And the '72 phins could not care less. They stopped thinking about it and surrendered to the inevitable after the regular season ended.

Myths in life you need to accept to pass into adulthood: Santa and the Easter Bunny don't exist, babies are not delivered by storks and the Patiots did not cheat their way to 18-0. But hey, there are plenty of psychologists out there who can help you through this.

I agree and disagree. Clearly, they got caught breaking an NFL rule, but until someone can show me that they got a competitive advantage because of it, I don't see any cheating. I find it ironic that the videotaping is what has so many people's panties in a bunch. If anything I would look at the "juicers" (Rodney Harrison in this case) and say that has a hell of lot more to do with cheating then making a videotape.

I'm still pissed at the BAL DC who called that timeout (and didn't even have the authority to do so) when Brady got stuffed on that 4th QB sneak.

Didn't Mercury Morris go on the Mike and Mike show yesterday and say that if the Patriots beat the Giants that he is willing to concede their place as the second-best team in NFL history?

I thought he said he would welcome them as the second team to join the club (of unbeaten)

My bad on the Morris commentary - he said 2nd best all time b/c they will be the 2nd to do it.

I am a full blown :blackdot: but MM is making all '72 phin honks look stupid. Please don't let this guy make you think he shares my opinions.

I've spoken to several Giants fans over the last few days, and we all agree on one thing - this game is a no-lose situation for us. Sure it will be tough if the Giants lose, but it will finally shut these champagne-popping clowns up and we'll never have to hear from them again.

Also, is NE officially in Mercury Morris' neighborhood now? I do not look forward to 2 weeks of this schmuck...
But you looked forward to this thread? Worst fans on the planet.
Yep Miami fans are the worst. But Giant fans aren't far behind.
LMAO @ a Pats fan stating this.
Funny thing is Boston beats NY in baseball. Then we get to do it all over again in Football.Yes live is Great to be a Boston fan. :excited:

As hard as it is for me to cheer for a NY team, this is why I hope the Giants win. It would accomplish three things:

1. Stop the Dophin's champaign celebrations. They would not be able to definitely claim they were the best team ever. Yes, they went undefeated and won the championship, but there would be debate since they did it in fewer games. NE has won 18 games in a row.

2. The Pats lose and would bring the Pats fans on this board back down to earth (although if the Bears, or any other team would accomplish what they did, their fans would act the same). But this is this year...

3. Leaves an opening for my team to go undefeated and win the superbowl!

it would be funny if the it was the '72 dolphins that got the asterisk b/c they only had to play 17 games for an undefeated season
Lets not forget that was in 72....wonder how many would have passed a piss test?
 They could all piss like race horses, some were probably even... :coffee: ...oh wait, that's your point.

The pats are going to DESTROY the Giants and go unbeaten.
Right. Like the Pats destroyed the Giants 38-35 a few weeks ago.
No, like they destroyed the Redskins and Bill a couple months ago.
The weather is the great equalizer.Which is why the Giants are in trouble - if I were the G-men, I'd be busting out every rain man they can find. They should be singing the Panic song Hatfield all day long if they want to win this game. On a clear day, the Pats can throw forever.

 I distinctly remember the playoffs and Super Bowl run as it is some of my first memories of football. I was six. My mom said I liked the dolphins and wore dolphin gear since I was four or five because they were from Miami where my favorite Grandma lived, but I don't have strong memories of any of that. My first memory of football is watching Griese break his ankle and the next memory I really have (probably the next game a 6 year old would watch) is him coming into a playoff game. That said, take my ability to rate 70s teams with a grain of salt. I was, after all, a child.

and your point is?!?since week 1 ( the week they got `caught`) , they've gone 17-0, with all the NFL's eyes on them..they haven't 'cheated' since week 1, and have won 17 in a row..

`dude, I don't want to get into it but I'm pretty sure' they don't need to cheat to win..B. Belichick has won 3 SB's as a HC, 2 more with NYG as an assistant, and is on his way to NFL immortality as one of 2 HC's to win 4 SB's with the same team..The guy knows a thing or two about coaching.

stop being a sore loser or a Patriots hater..

-disclaimer, I'm a NYG fan, and I respect BB for his abilities..BTW - didn't Dungy cheat with extra crowd noise blasting into the RCA Dome recently? just checking...

don't be bitter that your favorite team isn't in the Super Bowl...

I'm not hater but he does have a point. They did get caught cheating and had to pay with a significant fine against the coach and a loss of a first round pick. Yes, It is odd...one would think they don't need to "cheat to win". But still...they did, got caught, paid a penalty...earned this *

One thing that baffles me here is that....

1) ALL teams cheat to some degree

2) NE got caught

3) Assuming that NE didn't cheat again this year. We all know what they say about assume. That's like saying no NFL player does anything illegal to themselves to gain an advantage, or better yet no track stars do anything wrong.

4) I heard locally thru a Steve Sabol interview that Miami wasn't even favored in the SB against Washington in '72.

Odd very odd.

I know the Dolphins of 72 were undefeated, but were they really that good of a team? They supposedly played maybe the easiest schedule of any SB winner. Would anyone ever consider them as good as other SB teams like Steelers, 49ers, Cowboys of 70's 90's, Bears, 60's, 90's Pack, Gibbs's Redskins, Patriots etc?

I would say only 2 teams were worse. The 87 Giants and the 91 Giants.Thats it they were better than 2 Super Bowl winning teams.

I'll take the 87 Giants over those fish. That 91 Giant team got lucky (Roger Craig fumbling, Norwood missing the FG)

Easy big fella.I can't speak about the '72 Dolphins, but I can admit that the Bills were a better team than the Giants in '91. But the '87 Giants? That team was studly. They beat a Montana-led 49er team 49-3 in the playoffs, then shut out a Gibbs-led Redskins team 17-0, then beat Elway's Broncons 39-10 in the superbowl.

One of the things that I think is overlooked about the '72 Dolphins is that, while they did have a fairly easy schedule, they won most of their regular season games with their 2nd string QB. Also, it's not like they went into the tank the next season - they rolled to the Super Bowl title in '73, and it took the "Sea of Hands" play to knock them out of the playoffs in '74. So it's not like they rolled over a soft schedule, got lucky in the playoffs, and then faded away. This was a talented team that played in three straight Super Bowls, winning two of them. They certainly merit consideration as one of the best teams ever.

So did the 2001-02 Patriots with a 2nd string QB named Tom Brady :goodposting:

IMO, they were a very good team that had a great streak.Since it is unfair to compare teams from different eras, I will say that I believe the best Steeler and Cowboy teams of the 70's were much better than '72 Fins. The champagne and celebration of the '72 Fins should not be, IMO, about being the greatest team, it should be about being the only team to go undefeated.going undefeated does not automatically mean you are the greatest team ever. It just means you've earned a spot in the discussion.

Earl Morrall was not your typical 2nd string qb. He was a solid veteran handling a very good running game. Miami was not a passing team. This does not diminish the team's achievement but there was not a lot of pressure on the QB to put up big numbers to make the offense go.

Yeah, those Jets, Chiefs and Colts teams from the early days were real powerhouses. '83 Raiders? Puh-leeze. Look, the Dolphns may not be one of the best, but they are def. not like the one and dones over the years. They DID carry a 36-5-1 record and three Super Bowl appearances from '72-'74, were only dismantled by the start of a new league, and did something only 8 S.B. champs (them included) were able to do - repeat as champs the following year.

I answered a question, its not right or wrong.I beleive Miami was a very weak team.IF NE wins, I think they are the best team of all time.Right now I think the 85 Bears are. 83 Raiders are in my top 10 by the way.Who do you have as the top 3 teams of all time? Were would you have this NE team IF they win? Thanks
