Serial rapist Darren Sharper, who last month pleaded guilty or no contest to rape or attempted rape charges in three states, will face strict post-prison conditions under the terms of his plea bargains.
The disgraced former NFL star pleaded guilty or no contest to rape charges in Arizona, California and Nevada and he will be arraigned on additional rape charges In Louisiana in June.
Sharper, 39, may only serve nine more years in prison, but he will be monitored by GPS and subject to lie detector tests and penile plethysmograph tests upon his release.
The penile plethysmograph test, in which a sensor is attached to the genitalia to 'measure degree of arousal to certain stimuli', will be part of Sharper's mandatory sex offender education program in Arizona, the New Orleans Advocate reported.
The test usually involves rubber rings being placed around the penis to measure swelling.
Subjects can be show depictions of consensual sex or rape in order to assess their reaction.
A report about the practice from the Texas Department of State Health Services said: 'Once an offender’s deviant sexual arousal patterns have been identified, treatment interventions can be introduced which are designed to reduce or eliminate these deviant response patterns.
'Behavioral treatment teaches the offender the sequence of events leading to the commission of his deviant behavior and then provides the offender with specific methods to disrupt the offense cycle.'
It is unclear what probation departments in Arizona intend to do with results of Sharper's tests.
Under the other terms of the deal, Sharper will not be allowed to drink alcohol, visit bars, liquor stores or adult shops or date online.
