Aaron Brooks to ATL (1 Viewer)

Raiders

He seems like a better fit in ATL than Culp, and he would be had for the cheap. He's fast , throws a good long ball, and heck he's even M Vicks cousin. So why not?

He might be a stop gap type guy, but if they're going for borderline inept quarterback play, then they might as well give Joey Harrington a shot, he's better at that then most of the NFL

You could do worse than Brooks as a backup plan.

For all the flak the guy gets, he was very productive for several years behind a terrible offensive line.

Any chance they overpay Tampa for Plummer? i know it is a division rival, but he would make the most sense if they can get him

Just the publicity factor makes Brooks a no go.

I think they have to get Culpepper. Vick could play all, some, or none of this year, and may even have already played his last game in the league. The only guy whose available who could be a January quarterback is Culpepper. It's true, he might never be the same, but Atlanta has a bunch of young WRs who could improve with a more accurate quarterback and a more traditional offense.

If I was Atlanta I'd be really steamed at Vick. I mean, they just moved Schaub this offseason, and now this.

Im sure the PR department would love to hear of that (Brooks)

Who knows Joey Harrington might finally do something good in ATL to justify his 1st round pick. IMO he has never gotten a decent chance to succeed, nor has anyone under Millen.

Wait, Brooks is Vick's cousin? Wow, I'm shocked that the announcers never mentioned this during any of those Saints/Falcons games.

It's only July and there's a Brooks v. Harrington debate. It looks like it's going to be a very long year for the Falcons. Welcome to the NFL Bobby Petrino...it's a little different than getting ready for a Big East game against UConn.

Schaub was moved this offseason because IMHO he was a poor match for the offensive system that Petrino runs. As such, the time to move him was before the draft so that they could get the most for him.

As for C-Pep, if he is willing to play for a small amount it may be worth the investment, but I doubt that Atlanta will bring in such a big profile name before the trial -- even if the "name" can't play for a year.

This is a business. If Vick is acquitted, the Falcons may decide to keep him. They may also decide to trade him, and if that is the case, then they don't want it to look like they are willing to dump him for anything. If he is convicted, well they still have to get a QB and they will draft one next year or dabble in free agency.

I think the Falcons go with Harrington, the Georgia QB that they drafted last year, Redman, and a few other almosts or has beens. A former Louisville QB may also be a possibility (Ragone) or a trade for a JAX QB (or pick up on the WW) if C-Pep signs in JAX may also be possibities.

I suspect C-Pep will also want to go to a system where he is not rushed to play and one in which he is familiar or has familiar coaches. That means St. Louis or JAX.

As for the topic of the post, Brooks would be an adequate #2, but as other posters have said it won't happen. First, the Falcons wouldn't want to jump into that public relations fiasco of signing Vick's cousin. And, second, despite the cash, I don't think Brooks would want to go in to Atlanta at this point since his cousin is still the starter.
