Aaron Kampman Injury (1 Viewer)

Just read this:

Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman will reportedly be sent for an MRI after suffering a right knee injury in Thursday practice. It was Kampman's other knee that was surgically repaired last year, so this is a new injury. Kampman had been a smashing free agent success to this point, playing nearly every snap while providing the Jags' only consistent pass-rushing threat.
Does anyone have any other information?

The local rumor is that it's serous but nobody knows really. Local newspaper guy Vito Stelino tweeted that it was serious enough for an MRI and other local media folks have run with the "serious" part and are assuming the worst. At this point it's all speculation.

Alualu was also riding the bike yesterday but his injury is supposed to be relatively minor.

With guys on bye and the waivers already reset due to a Thursday night game...I'm stuck starting him this week.

Per Jaguars Insider, Jaguars DE Aaron Kampman has suffered a torn ACL and will be out for the remainder of the season. Needless to say, this is a huge blow for the Jaguars defense.

...at least I didn't give up much to get him, but this still sucks.

What kind of Career repercussions do you think there will be for a 31-year old DE coming off 2 straight ACL-tears?

Hate to say it, but its time to call the insurance company and go buy a restaurant.

Liked the guy a lot, but this is too much

Now that Kampman is out of the picture...

Who replaces him as the every down starting DE ?

Or, will it become a committee approach going forward?

I picked up Derrick Harvey based on a news report I read on the internet (source?). Also, if you check the cheat sheet for week 10 FBG has removed Kampman from the list and Harvey has moved up to DE#29.

Likely a rotation between Derrick Harvey, Austen Lane and Jeremy Mincey, with Larry Hart getting involved some. Wrote about Lane and Mincey in the RTD this week. Both were already in line to get more snaps with Harvey floundering, but it's a lock that at least one of them sees 40-50 snaps per week now.

I've acquired Mincey (in my 14 team league which starts 2 DL) and dropped Harvey. Since the Kampman injury, Mincy seems to be emerging as the D-Lineman with the most opportunity to produce. He's projected DL29 on Football Guys on week 12 versus the Giants. Not sure what to make of it but the consensus on Mincy seems to be "lukewarm". CBS while maybe not an "IDP warehouse of knowledge" maybe reflects the week 11 opinion of Dr. Bramel in RTD. CBS states "Jacksonville travels north to face the Giants in Week 12 where they likely won't have as easy a time getting to New York QB Eli Manning as they did McCoy, making Mincey a low-end Fantasy play." In my opinion, Mincey is worth adding and definitely a situation to monitor if you need DL help. Weeks 14 and 16, according to the SOS chart, appear to be good matchups for Jacksonville versus Oakland and Washington. I get the impression that Mincey's talent or athleticism based on his college performance are the reason the reviews are sort of tempered on him? I suppose the cautious analysis ALSO probably means that Austen Lane may still lay claim to the DE role and gain more snaps -- though Mincey's week 11, from the outside looking in, should be a strong claim for maintaining his snaps.

In any event, week 12 will be a another opportunity to evaluate Mincey's fantasy value going forward.

I've got Derrick Harvey signed up to a contract in one of my dynasty leagues which means I can't drop him without taking a penalty. I'm hoping he blows up one game so I can get a low draft pick for him.

I picked up Lane in one of my leagues. Mincey is DT eligible and I didn't have room to pick him up because of it. I've already got two good DT's in that league, but DE is always in demand.
