Adam Wainwright = STEAL (1 Viewer)

This guy is good and will finish at least top 20 pitchers of the year, probably top 15. Also, he is eligible for SP and RP in several different leagues.

The only real knocks on him are his minor league career (never really dominant, but who cares?) and how they might put him in the pen if Jason Isringhausen gets hurt, but being that Carpenter is banged up, I don't see how they will move a quality starter to the pen.

Trade for Wainwright before it's too late.....

The non eomman posts in this thread are horrible. (I was typing this before the last post- seems like a neutral post)

Get the K/BB ratio off of 1/1 and we'll start talking
:angry:I was just coming in here to say that.I'm picking him up anyway, just because historically, his K/BB is very good, but it does make me worry, even with a small sample size.
Plus, when pitching relief he was probably only throwing 2 pitches. You'll get killed doing that as a starting pitcher when you have to see everyone more than once.He better be getting something else over the plate for strikes.

6.2IP 2ER 7H 4BB 4K ND with a hit batsman today against the vaunted Pirates.

While the ERA is nice, no way it keeps up if he's going to allow that many baserunners.

I targeted Wainwright in my auction, but he got too much love from others and his $ value went too high for me.

The WS must have fresh in the minds of the other guys.

He is. He has thrown in a good changeup now.I drafted him in my eight man league with my last pick. His given me a nice couple of starts as my 6th starting pitcher.

i'm not going to criticize your league, but he went for $19 in my league on draft day. not a steal.
Can we criticize your league for having someone who paid 19 dollars for him?
Sure. My point was, I hate when posts deteriorate into name-calling and the 'what kind of league are you in? 4 teams?' kind of comments. Was $19 too much? 10 teams. NL-only. Keeper league. Maybe a couple of dollars too much, but its not like he should have gone for $5.

Looking like more of the same today.6 IP3 BB4 KWalking too many guys
8 hits 3 walks 2.0 WHIP. Not the best of outings, but I still think this guy has some real value. He may walk some guys, but in 5X5 format the K's are going to be valuable. Plus he should pile up some wins in St Louis.

I agree and I still think he'll do better. That whole team is in a funk. Look at how bad their main hitters are hitting (Pujols, Rolen, etc.). It's like the whole team needs a kick in the ###.Wainwright and company will come around.....eventually.

Get the K/BB ratio off of 1/1, and his ERA under 6.00. Then we'll start talking
fixed ;)
Don't give up just yet. Sit him, but DON'T drop him. He'll straighten out.
I'm out. Dropped him last week in my 8-man league. For some reason Dan Haren was still available. In a deeper league, I probably would have hung on, but no need with Halladay, Zambrano, Harang & now Haren on my squad.

What the heck has happened to this kid?

He was great for his first few starts and he has just fallen apart. Gave up 8 runs in 2.2 innings yesterday. :goodposting: Forget fantasy, I just would like to see him pull his head out for the sake of his career. The Cardinals were looking for him to become a #2 and now he is getting close to losing his starting gig and returning to the pen.
