Adrian Peterson breaks collarbone (1 Viewer)

Honestly, given the number of carries that Oklahoma gives Peterson I would almost rather him not play another 6 games. I belive that anyone scouting him has seen enough and from a long term NFL career and fantasy football standpoint really he has nothing new to prove. IMO, he is still the number 1 RB on your fantasy board.
:goodposting:

Well he may go #1, he may go #5, he might even go #10. But one way or the other, he will be the #1 RB off the board.

That won't change, I agree.Chaos - I understand what you are saying. Nevertheless, AP coulda easily been the clear #1 or #2 player off the board (have to say "or #2" after the RBush thing). Now it is extremely questionable if he can "cement" a #1/#2 overall pick.

GBN had him #5 (Texans) in there early mock today. NFLDC has him #3 (Packers). I think a list of players are in contention for #1 prior to this injury and Peterson wasn't a favorite.Quinn Landry (he's killin' it)Calvin Johnson (also looking amazing)Brohm (rumors of scouts having him higher than Quinn)Adams and Moses are in a duel for top DE and both have a shot if they put up huge numbers.Joe Thomas is just flattening half the field on running plays. I have seen him projected #1 overall by a very solid source. That's 7 guys at premium positions with a shot at #1 overall. It's been well over a decade since Ki Jana went tops in the draft. If Bush didn't after the crazy season he had, then I doubt Peterson ever had a shot. His injury concerns were already established. The collarbone doesn't change his value. This isn't a knee or a back problem or something that could be recurring. RBs are not priority for most teams, but I guess if the right team gets the first pick, then Peterson could STILL go #1. That hasn't changed today... of course, imo.

IMO, Jets would take AP if they had the #1 overall.

As would the Texans (no way they'd get egg on their face two years in a row by passing on a talent like AP).

I also think, Chaos, you are missing my point - IMO, AP playing 13 games and a Bowl, the combine would be a formality.

He'd be #1/#2 overall period.

The ONLY reason I added the #2 is b/c of the Texans blunder.

(see above)

My point?

The same one I made above:

AP can't cement #1 OR #2 after being injured the rest of this year.

I didn't miss your point. I just disagree with it and still find statements like "He'd be #1/#2 overall period" very presumptuous. I've been a draftnik almost 30 years, and I know you cannot make those statements with any accuracy. I also know people said the same about Leinart this time a year ago, and Bush closer to the draft ( :hey: ), and Young after the Rose Bowl. No biggie. And his nick is AD, not his initials, AP. AD = All Day. It is his Sooner term of endearment. They find it a little cheesy when he's called AP.

Yeah, well, I was pretty sure Leinart lost his #1 overall when he came back for his senior year. And, only Big-12 folks were callling Young a possible #1 overall guy - and that was ONLY b/c the Texans were drafting #1 overall. And Bush is a bad example - I think the entire world agrees the Texans blundered. Reggie Bush was the BEYOND CEMENTED #1/#2 overall player. And he went #2, so . . . Just like Bush, IMO, AP could have been the cemented #1/#2 overall if he played out this year - now it is extremely questionable.

Don't care what Sooners think. He's AP to me. :D

AP top 5 pick I would be suprised to see him drop lower than number 2 overall. The current bad teams that are in the running.

Raiders (0-4): Already have a good running back in Lamont Jordan that can catch and run. This team could use a WR but desperately could use some solid Def players.

Tennessee(0-5) : Lendale White was to be the future back, but he is no AP. I could see the Titans picking him up an AP playing for them. Chris Brown will probably be gone by next year and maybe henry if they get AP.

Detroit(0-5): They really are not in a direct need of AP they could definitely use some defensive players

Houston(1-3): They would grab AP in a millisecond can't blow this one again if the opportunity comes up.

Cleveland(1-4): They have Rueben Droughns but could really use some OL help and some defensive playmakers. I think they would grab AP and groom him to be the Droughns replacement.

Green Bay(1-4):A. Green is getting up there in age and AP would be a good pick for this team to plan for the future. They really need some defensive help but AP would be a good fit here.

Tampa Bay (0-4) They are not drafting AP no way. They could use some solid D help because their D is not as great as it use to be.

Arizona (1-4): They are not drafting AP he will not be able to run behind this sorry O Line and Edge has at least 3-4 more solid years. They need help on the Oline and on the D.

Miami (1-4): No AP for this team. They need some Oline help and perhaps some solid D. Playmakers some of their veterans are getting up there in age.

At the end of the year I expect Tampa or Oakland to be the worse teams fighting for no.1 pick with the Titans right behind them. Calvin Johnson is going to be a Raider or a Buc Porter is out of there for the Raiders and Galloway is getting up there in age. It is either that or entertain trade offers to get multiple picks later in the draft.

It's AD, not AP. I just listened to his coach talk about him going pro. He calls him AD. He will always be AD. No one who knows about the player will call him AP without being corrected byt those who know more. It really is AD. It's for All Day. A good nickname that has stuck in Norman, in the Big 12, on NCAA message boards, with the media, even at other fantasy sites. AD. The only team I would feel certain about is the Packers.

Geez.. it's a collarbone. wtf with comparing it to McGahee's destroyed knee? He'll be all healed up by the end of the season, McGahee was injured at the end of the season. An injury with far longer recovery time.

He'll be the 1st RB off the board taken by the first team in need of a RB. Where those teams end up in order will effect his draft position, not a collarbone that was broken way back in October.

Now, I don't think he'll go higher than #5.
If the Texans pass on another RB with 'superstar' type skills, the fans will burn that stadium to the ground.Just a hunch, but I think that the Texans will have a choice in the top 3.

Edit to add: Jesus, looking at the post above I had forgotten how many truly rotten teams there were this year. Texans just might lose out on Peterson if they win 3 games.

Just an FYI....

NCAA | Coach expects A. Peterson to enter draft

Sat, 14 Oct 2006 22:26:12 -0700

Joe Schad, of ESPN.com, reports Oklahoma offensive coordinator Kevin Wilson expects RB Adrian Peterson (collarbone) to enter the 2007 NFL Draft. Wilson believes Peterson would be among the top four picks in the next draft and added, "I have always thought that this was Adrian's last year. And why wouldn't it be? He stands to make a boatload of money. He has done everything we've ever asked of him here." The junior running back broke his collarbone Saturday, Oct. 14 and will miss the rest of the 2006 season. Peterson has said only a "major" injury would bring him back to the school for his senior season. Wilson added, "This is not what I would consider a 'major' injury. His NFL career will in no way be affected by this. He's going to be a very high draft choice. I mean, don't you think?"

 OU Sooners on this board can suck it - he will be identified on these boards as AP for the next 10 years.

Why? Because it is SHORTHAND!!!!!

Some folks got all uppity calling LT "LT" ("He should be LT2 b/c there is only one LT and that was Lawrence Taylor")

If LT gets LT over LT then AD = AP

So, like I said, OU fans can suck it.
