Adrian Peterson Week 15 (1 Viewer)

Thought about picking him up, but passed.
The oline sucks and he sucked before when he was healthy in the 2 games he played.
This team has only gotten worse, but do what you need to to win.

Running back Adrian Peterson is not listed on the (injurty) report, as the team has not yet officially made a move to add him to the 53-man roster. They will have to make a move at some point to make room for him.

If Peterson does actually play I doubt he gets more than 10 snaps, but who knows?

I agree he was bad before the injury

keep him on the bench, plug him in in championship week if he looks good this week.
This is my plan as well.  Cut the injured Riddick for him since I don't think I'd play Riddick vs Dallas regardless.

Yeah can't bring myself to play him this week, even with losing Julio.  Plugging Beasley in... and will look to play AP next week if I survive.

I guess this probably also kills McKinnon's upside this week against the Colts' porous D.

I picked him up merely as defense. I was hoping to release him Saturday next week.

I won't play him... that team has no rushing attack and I don't even think zeke would do well behind that OL

Looks like I will be releasing someone to make room for him this week. darn

A few things to note here:

1) Yeah, the MIN offensive line is garbage, but if there's a week where a RB can get a decent stat line, it will be against the IND defense which is 30th against the run, and also 30th in receptions to RBs out of the backfield.

2) IND offensive line is bad at protecting Luck and they are down a couple offensive linemen. The Vikings D should be able to get after Luck all day which may mean more offensive opportunity for Minnesota.

3) Asiata has 17 carries inside the 5-yard line, tied with Gordon for most in the league. He now has an ankle injury (who knows how serious it is)... if Adrian Peterson gets those carries, there is major touchdown potential.

He had some huge games coming off the ACL injury during the 2015 season.  I think 2 games is a small sample size to take into account plus the matchup is good this week (and even next at Green Bay).  Yeah the offensive line is horrible however it sounds like AP is back to his normal self.

He'll be sitting on my bench in PPR leagues.  Probably a slightly better option in standard leagues.  If AP looks good this week and I survive,  then I'll consider starting him next week.  Don't have the stones to start him this week.  Hope it works out for those of you that do start him.

A "why not" pick up for me with no intention of playing him this week. I am now being tempted because of Forte/Powell uncertainty.

I am benching Marquis Lee at the flex in a PPR for AP.  The poster @pbandy1made a great point about Asiata having 17 carries inside the 5 thus far.  I think AP gets those now, a touchdown for sure and has a higher ceiling.  I'm also projected to lose by 25 points so would am going for the risk reward route knowing well aware this could be a 10 carry 40 yard game or the extreme opposite.

Picked him up because he was dropped for Farrow right before it was announced he's back this week. Have no depth at RB in nonPPR. Right now i have the two Falcon RBs going against SF but tempting to sub AD for Coleman.

For people who have Peterson and McKinnon, I think McKinnon is a better play than Peterson this week.
Hi Bia, if you have time, could you unpack this some? My high-stakes partner and I landed AP via FAAB several weeks ago and have been holding. It's a good Team that we employed a zero-rb strategy when drafted, so a productive AP would upgrade this team to VERY strong, and that's very tempting. We also have McKinnon, so we're weighing that option. I'm with you, and I value your opinion highly on all things Vikes, so thinking you could provide some relevant insight as to why you feel McK is the better play, that I can throw his way.

If I were confident in Riddick, I don't think I'd consider starting either one, because ambiguity, but as of right now, I don't think Riddick is even playing.

To make matters more complicated, I also have Bilal Powell, and Charles Sims vying with AP/McKinnon for 2 slots...happy, happy, joy, joy...TIA

I know that Peterson was wearing a brace on his knee during practice and I am not sure when he will be cleared to play without this.

Peterson believes he is ready to play but I am not thinking he will play very much. It is possible I am completely wrong about that. Peterson has surprised me before, but it isn't that long that he has been running outside of the pool and he hasn't had contact. I did read him saying that he can make all the cuts that he needs to but I am skeptical of the Vikings playing him much in his first game back. Again however, I expected Peterson's workload to be lighter when he came back in 2012 as well though, and I was wrong. This is when Peterson was 27 years old however not 31.

The offensive line is still bad. They have actually improved in pass protection somewhat recently which is kind of addition by subtraction. Right now RG Fusco is likely the worst normal starter for the Vikings and the back ups have played better than him. Good news is Fusco is out for this game. Zach Kerin will likely start at RG this week, he played there for a handful of snaps last week after Fusco was injured.

Joe Berger should be back this week and he has been the Vikings best lineman this season and last. So that should help although Easton has been playing decently while Berger has been out the last two weeks. Easton would be an option at right guard also I suppose, but he has not played guard ahead of Kerin when Boone was out at left guard. Sirles who is starting at right tackle has played left guard ahead of Kerin or Easton.

TJ Clemmings is still bad, but he may be a better run blocker than in pass protection. I do think Clemmings has gotten better, he is just still really bad.

This might be the best the offensive line can be however with Berger returning helps.

I think the media is really selling this idea to create excitement for the team. I just don't think Peterson ends up playing very much in this game. I do think he will get goal line and short yardage looks possibly and he may play for a couple of series, but I am not really expecting him to play more than 10 to 20 snaps. I would expect McKinnon to get more opportunities than Peterson in this game. They just want to get Peterson's feet wet.

This being Peterson however I suppose its possible he looks good enough and that he won't let the coaches take him out. I just think that is less likely than him only playing for a part of the game.

What do they care about getting his feet wet. He's probably cut after this year and they need to win now.

Thinking of picking up AP and dropping Forte.  Will be playing Martin and Ingram this week.

If AP plays well this week I'll decide what to do with him next week (assuming I go to Championship)

What do you think?

Right.

Getting him ready for next weeks weeks game. Playing him a little bit to get a feel for how he is playing right now that they can't see in practice.

I do not think the game plan for this week requires Peterson to play well for the Vikings to win this game. The talk all along has been for Peterson to be ready for week 16 of the season.

In the past he has been a full go in games that he has played though. I just haven't heard anyone but Peterson saying he is going to play this week.

I'm going for it. This is a dumb game that is like 90% luck. Maybe some will roll my way.
Your face is dumb.

Deciding between AP and Farrow.  Leaning Farrow, especially since Biabreakable seems to think AP won't be All Day.

Will answer yours.

I could be totally wrong about this as Peterson has never been eased back in before.

Just listning to this now, and they seem kind of stunned that Peterson said he is going to play as well, which is kind of my reaction, as I have been expecting next week, but not this week.

He was activated to the roster about 7 hours ago and the Vikings dropped Toby Johnson. So in theory he could be active and play in this game.

Curious where everyone has him ranked and what the decisions are?

I need 2 of below in PPR:

4 for 40 Hopkins

Dontrelle Inman

AJ Green (doubtful)

Peterson

Brandon LaFell

This is my list in order of what I'm kinda thinking.

That Indy D is a juiceball matchup. Seriously considering benching AP > Michael Thomas @ ARI, Crowell @ BUF and Alshon J. vs GB.

ARI is a though matchup, Thomas coming off of a recent foot injury and Drew having a slump. Crow feels like the most boom/bust flex I could ever make; on one hand BUF just go destroyed, but by an arguably significantly stronger team/runner who led the game which the Browns probably cannot do... and Alshon after taking his first passes ever in practice with Barkley, feels very boom/bust similar to Crow.

Vikings need to win, and by all accounts so far "Adrian has looked like Adrian." This team has also definitely improved since AP put up poor numbers week 1 and 2, not necessarily the OLINE but the offense as a whole looks much improved w/ Bradford connecting decently well with Theilen/Diggs/Rudolph. Even if they only use AP with a balanced approach, he could still have an median higher than the other three options...

Are we summarily dismissing McKinnons stats last couple of weeks?

Double digits in my league and its non ppr 1 pt per 10 yards rush 1 pt per 10 yards rec..

Even Asiata has produced fairly well...

And then theres this this thing where they play one of the worst run defenses In the NFL in the Colts..at home.indoors.

And hes a freak of nature and probably dying to get back at it..

Other than him Id have a hard look at D. Henry..gonna be a lot od running in KC with the weather.and who wants to tackle that 250lb beast in that weather???

there's no way he's had double digits non ppr

week 14: 31/0 38/0

week 13: 41/0 14/1

week 12: 31/0 45/0

ppr yes he's double digits. too bad AP really hasnt ever avg 5-6 receptions a game in his entire career like mckinnon has had boost his value over the last 3 weeks

see what you want to see here. if you're starting ap it's because you don't have real good options otherwise and you're in a bind. I think it's quite risky to expect rb2 numbers fom him since he hasn't shown anything in the last 11 months to make us think he can still run the ball well

I did exactly this today. Felt weird dropping Forte as he is a low end RB1 in my league for the season but the future isnt based on history. Im actually surprised no one picked AP up in my league yesterday since the news dropped thursday, albeit that he wouldn't be back until week 16 then. I wont start him this week as my RBs are strong 2RB+flex with Bell, Blount, Lat Murray, but I wanted to play defense this week if anything, and if he looks good I might be in a tough but good situation next week.

If my RBs or flex were questionable, Id probably roll the dice with AP this week since the matchup is quite nice.

Adrian Peterson played on 12 snaps (21%) in the game against the Colts.

6 rushing attempts 22 yards 1 target 1 reception 1 yard and one fumble lost at the end of his one good run.

Matt Asiata also had 12 offensive snaps in this game.

Jerrick McKinnon had 34 offensive snaps (59%) 3 rushing attempts 12 yards 9 targets 9 receptions 59 yards.

I would expect Peterson to play more than this in week 16 even though it may make it more difficult for the Vikings to win the game having him do so.
