At the end of July, I will be drafting in a new dynasty league. There are two 10-team conferences, each with their own draft and the draft will be 25 rounds in length, done live.
The scoring format will be a little bit different than you normally see, but not that much. QBs get 4 pts per passing TD and 1 point per 25 passing yards. RBs get the usual 1 pt per 10 yards rushing and 6 points per TD. They get 0.5 points per pass reception and only 1 point per 20 yards of receiving.
That's the major difference - receiving points. The WRs also get 1 point per 20 passing yards and 0.5 points per reception. Also 6 points for a TD.
My question is this - does this lower the value of WRs significantly enough to cause me to focus on RBs and a top QB in the first three to four rounds? Should I forget about getting a top WR and try to land Brady, Manning, Romo or Brees in those first three rounds?
Traditionally, I would try to draft 3 RBs and 2 WRs with my first 5 picks, shooting for a QB in Round 6 or 7, as well as a TE. Is this scoring format different enough that I should deviate from that strategy, in your opinion?? All thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
