AFC East (1 Viewer)

I agree with everyone else.

It's New England number one and the other three will vary based on which one sucks the worst each week. Horrible, horrible division.

The bad thing is, I'm not sure that there's a team in the division that's even headed in the right direction. The bottom three are all bad and, either, staying the same or getting worse.

I'm not sure about that - nobody will disagree with the notion that the Dolphins have taken a huge step back, but I think the Jets and the Bills are both much better than they were a year ago and might hvae more at the QB position than anyone thought headed into this season - Pennington can still play and Losman is starting to come around. Both teams have a decent to solid defense as well.

The Jets have a legitimate shot at 9 wins, which is something the Bills and Dolphins can't say. With a good deal of luck, New York can reach 10.

But I don't see any way the Patriots lose the division, unless they:

1) Lose to the Jets @ Foxboro

2) Lose to Indianapolis

3) Lose @ Miami

4) Lose to Chicago

5) Lose @ Buffalo

6) Lose @ Jacksonville

Five of those need to happen for NE to "only" get 10 wins. For the Jets to get 10 wins, assuming they beat NE (no way the Jets can win the division without beating the Pats), they'd need six other wins: Mia, Buf, Det, Cle, Oak, Hou, GB, Min.

In other words, the Patriots can basically clinch the division by winning two of their next four games (Buf, Ind, NYJ).

If the Jets can run these next two games though, (Det and Cle), and be at 5-3 heading into the break, I think they'll definitely challenge for 10 wins. This is a team that should be better in the second half than the first, and has an easier schedule then to boot.

The Patriots are looking fantastic and are back to grinding it out this year. They look like 2004, only without any competition in the East. They could realistically get HFA and we know what that means.
