Here are my predictions for the AFC:1. Titans--Don't see any way this team doesn't get homefield2. Jets--After this week, they have a very soft schedule and they are peaking3. Pittsburgh--Their defense is too good for them to not win this division. The offense will probably prevent them from doing anything in the playoffs.4. S.D.--For some reason, i still think they'll win the division. I don't think Denver is very good and SD still plays them head to head5. Indy--That offense is clicking again and they have a fairly soft schedule. 6. NE--I think the last wildcard is bet/ the Pats and Phins and I think experience wins out here.If I had to pick the winners of the AFC it will go like thisAFC East: JetsAFC West: BroncosAFC North: SteelersAFC South: TitansWhat do you think?
Is Denver at 6-4 isn't very good (which I agree with), how good is San Diego at 4-6, really? Having said that, the Chargers definitely have the edge down the stretch as far as the schedule goes. They have four of their last six at home, and if they beat KC and Oakland and are within a game of the Broncos going into that last game, they would win the division with a win over Denver (they would have the better division record since Denver will have lost to KC once).4. S.D.--For some reason, i still think they'll win the division. I don't think Denver is very good and SD still plays them head to head

Pretty much. They needed that win at Pitt last week. Without it, the Pats/Colts/Broncos all have a decent chance of going 4-2 the next 6 weeks, making it necessary for SD to win out and get help. At the very least, they need to go 5-1 to have a prayer.Chargers are done. Thanks NorvIs Denver at 6-4 isn't very good (which I agree with), how good is San Diego at 4-6, really? so you are saying that there is hope for the Lions next yearDolphins still not getting any love.Maybe after they sweep the season series from the Patriots this weekend and improve to 3-1 in the division.At this time last year they were 0-10.
nope - sorry.so you are saying that there is hope for the Lions next yearDolphins still not getting any love.Maybe after they sweep the season series from the Patriots this weekend and improve to 3-1 in the division.At this time last year they were 0-10.
I really don't think it will be easy for the Chargers to go 4-1 over their next 5 games. Can it happen? Yes. But I could see them losing two of the three to IND, ATL, and TB. And KC is playing decent ball right now, and is always tough at home down the stretch. The Chargers remaining schedule is not really the cakewalk you make it out to be and for whatever reason the football gods just seem very very against them this season. I do think the AFC West champ will be 9-7, but I think it will be Denver, with SD finishing 8-8.The Chargers are not finished yet.
Denver still has:
OAK
@NYJ
KC
@CAR
BUF
@SD
San Diego still has:
IND
ATL
OAK
@KC
@TB
DEN
I would think the Broncos could be 9-6 going into the last week (winning the home games and losing the road games). However, because of the loss to KC earlier this season, they are in a position where, if SD beat Oak and KC and then beats the Broncos week 17, if the teams were tied for first, SD would win it because of having a better division record, so the Broncos need to have a two-game lead going into that last week.
The Chargers could easily go 4-1 before that last game against Denver, and if the division comes down to that last game, the Chargers would have the game at home. Trust me, as a Broncos fan, I hope it doesn't come to that, but I think it is a very real possibility.
These would be my picks too.1- Tennessee2- Pittsburgh3- Miami4- Denver5- NY Jets6- Indy
Nor should they after winning by a hair over the Seneca Wallace-led Seahawks and Raiders - both at home.Awful.Dolphins still not getting any love.
not only that we have them to thank for every team now running some form of the wildcat offenseNor should they after winning by a hair over the Seneca Wallace-led Seahawks and Raiders - both at home.Awful.Dolphins still not getting any love.
I don't think Denver's schedule is that much more difficult than the Chargers. They both play KC & OAK plus each other so it boils down to Denver getting NYJ, CAR, and BUF while San Diego gets IND, ATL & TB. Denver already having a 2-game lead plus head-to-head is going to make it tough.The Chargers are not finished yet. Denver still has:OAK@NYJKC@CARBUF@SDSan Diego still has:INDATLOAK@KC@TBDEN

Let's cut to the chase-
AFC Championship preview is happening this weekend in 5 weeks at Tenn...
I'm a Jets fan, and I'm not optimistic yet. If they somehow win this weekend, maybe I'll be cautiously optimistic. There are lucky, bad, or good plays or breaks throughout the game and the season. Sometimes they fall your way, sometimes they don't. The Jets beat the Dolphins that day, on the field, regardless of that pass. By the same token, they deserved to lose to the Raiders, they played poorly when it mattered. You could likely do this for most of the teams during the course of the year - bad breaks and good breaks for each team. The game is 60 minutes and can turn in any one of them. A win is a win is a win. And a loss is a loss is a loss.On a prayer/duck from Favre as he was hit - yes.LOVE the optimism from the Jest fans - will only make this years sad ending that much sweeter.Didn't the Jets beat Miami?Didn't the Jets lose to the Raiders?The Jacket said:Nor should they after winning by a hair over the Raiders - at home.Awful.=Smackdown= said:Dolphins still not getting any love.

This I can agree with.The Jets also lost their kicker that day which was also weird since they didn't have a backup and led them to go for it on 4th down a few times.The Jets beat the Dolphins that day, on the field, regardless of that pass.On a prayer/duck from Favre as he was hit - yes.LOVE the optimism from the Jest fans - will only make this years sad ending that much sweeter.Didn't the Jets beat Miami?Didn't the Jets lose to the Raiders?The Jacket said:Nor should they after winning by a hair over the Raiders - at home.Awful.=Smackdown= said:Dolphins still not getting any love.
Funny thing... and I'm sure Smack knows it living in NY... That much of the talk in NY is about Jets fans NOT being optimistic and Jets fans being pissed that they couldn't close the deal on New England after the 1st half.. On and on and on about how Jets fans aren't happy with their season as of yet....I think too many Jets fans have been beaten down over the years - I'm happy, I'm enjoying it a week at a time and Like this Front office a lot.... I thought the last group of Herm Edwards and Bradway were nincompoops and these guys have it all over them coaching, drafting, Free Agents, and every which way...Should be a great near future for the entire AFC east.I'm a Jets fan, and I'm not optimistic yet. If you ask me, Denver has a easier time at it than San Diego. The only really tough game they have is @ NJ. The home games look like locks to me at this point. Carolina on the road won't be any more difficult than Atlanta last weekend. The Chargers will likely lose to the Colts and will likely lose to either ATL or TB. At the very worst for the Bronocs, they and Chargers both drop two games before the week 17 showdown. Denver would have to slip and lose to either KC at Home, the RAiders at Home or Buffalo at HOME...and San Diego would have to beat two of Indi @ home (not going to happen) ATL at home or Tampa on the road.....for week 17 to even matter.Ghost Rider said:The Chargers are not finished yet. Yeah, 1st game for both QB's, I just think Farve had/has a longer way to go where the dink dunk / Game manager thing Chad does is pretty easy to install.. But, to me that's a great play - the kicker is out, so they have to go for it and Farve doesn't take the sack - he puts it up there for a play.... I think the Jets also throttled it down in that game feeling it was under control... Decent win On the road without the kicker.I said from day 1 that this was a team that needed time and to stay healthy and to build as the year goes on, I still don't think we have seen what the Jets can be yet. Granted that goes for Miami too - But, I've seen this Parcells rebuild thing before and IMO, we're seeing a team overachieving that will run out of gas and have a good year for year 1 of a rebuild and will contend more in the following years when they get Parcells' players and make the turnaround.Right now I think the Jets have a few more pieces to the puzzle....But LOVE the optimism after over a decade of Miami fans being MIA.
As you've stated, the Chargers would win a tiebreaker so in reality they only need to make up one game and then win head to head. I don't think thats unreasonable. The previous meeting bet/ the 2 was controversial and could have easily went the other way. I don't think either team is that good but I think the Chargers D is a little better and the offenses are comparable.Ghost Rider said:Is Denver at 6-4 isn't very good (which I agree with), how good is San Diego at 4-6, really? dude, let it go. didn´t the Giants lose to the Browns? Does that mean they´re no longer a playoff/super bowl contender?it happens.I still don´t think the Jets have as much of an inside track to the AFC East as most believe. even if they do somehow pull off a win in Tenn, I think that division will come down to wk17.Didn't the Jets lose to the Raiders?The Jacket said:Nor should they after winning by a hair over the Raiders - at home.Awful.=Smackdown= said:Dolphins still not getting any love.
Most likely. There's not a team in the NFL the Steelers can't beat if they play their best game. Note : I'm not saying the Steelers are the best team in the NFL, they're not, what I'm saying is that their UPSIDE on any given week is as good or better than anyone else's. The problem is, they're too inconsistent, have been making too many mistakes, and their line play has been too spotty. Thus teams like the Giants and Tennessee will likely beat them more than 50% of the time, because those teams have been very consistent all year (save for the Giants/Browns debacle.) However, if the Steelers come out and play their best football, no team in the NFL scares me.Let's cut to the chase-

What do you think?Add the Colts and Pats as wild-cards and you should about have it. Titans and Jets will get the byes (Jets have a much softer schedule than Pittsburgh and Denver from here out.) Call it New England at Pittsburgh and Indianapolis at Denver for the opening weekend. Following week, Indianapolis at Tennessee and Pittsburgh at Jets. Titans/Steelers in the AFCC. I'll predict that game after I see Pitt at Tennessee in a few weeks and also see where the Steelers are injury-wise at that point. Right now, you'd have to give the edge to the Titans.

The problem is that we're now in week 11 and the Steelers have yet to play their "best football". Their deficiencies are very clear at this point and perhaps they're just not good enough? Bottom line...they can't protect Ben and that will cost them against any decent playoff team.Most likely. There's not a team in the NFL the Steelers can't beat if they play their best game. Baltimore getting no attention here. Just finished 3 straight and 5 out of 6 on the road. They have the NFL's second-best home record over the last decade, and now they're home for 3 out of 4 (Phil, @Cin, Wash, Pitt). If they can go 3-1 in that stretch, then split their final 2 (@Dal, Jax), they'll be at 10 wins and probably be in. Plus, they own the H2H tie-breaker over Miami, though Indy holds it over them. Bad luck for the Ratbirds that the Titans probably won't have anything to play for when they face the Steelers in Week 16. I see it like this:#1 - Titans (14-2)#2 - Pittsburgh (12-4)#3 - Jets (11-5)#4 - Denver (9-7)#5 - Indy (11-5)#6 - Baltimore (10-6)Miami, also 10-6, loses H2H tie-breaker with Baltimore. Patriots go 9-7 or get to 10-6, but lose tie-breaker with Dolphins. Chargers finish 8-8.Wild CardRavens at JetsColts at Broncos
