Age of Cowboy receivers (1 Viewer)

Glenn and Owens have both been impressive talents on the field. They will both be 34 in the 2008 season. They have both been injured the past couple of years. At what age do we see them rapidly decline? At what age out of the league? Both are in phenomenol shape, but I would not want them as my plan. I note this because in most of the Dallas threads i've seen Homers always place D.B's and special Teams as top priority. I understand the D.B. thing, but the W.R. cupboard seems awefully bare.

they won without Glenn all season so really they just have to worry about replacing TO when he slows down. He keeps himself in great shape so, I don't think they would place a priority on getting another receiver.

Oh, I don't know. Patrick Crayton seemed to fill in pretty good for Glenn who did not actually play until this past weekend. Witten is also pretty solid as a TE.

They need a WR or two desperately, IMO. Remember, it usually takes 2 or 3 years before a WR can start being counted on to be a difference-maker. I believe that posiuion should be one of their priorities in the upcoming draft.

Owens will be 35 halfway through next season. I would not give him another deal starting at 36..so the Cowbots need to fill that need very soon.

They could go FA:

Randy Moss if you want to spend cash, but he's getting old also

B Johnson AZ would be a nice FA

I sure their are others available also

I am a big Dallas homer and think that the Cowboys do need to address WR, I actually wanted them to do it last year but oh well. I think Crayton is the kind of guy that people overestimate and assume he will be able to carry the team as a "lead" WR. It is a lot easier to take advantage of #2/3 CBs than it is to be the guy to carry the passing game. I don't think Crayton or Hurd can do it. I also happen to think that the Cowboys have to get a RB early this year as MB in my opinion can't be "the guy" due to his style of play without having a solid backup. I could easily see the Cowboys trading out of Cleveland's pick in the first round and trying to get 2 round picks so that they could address the DB issues while also picking up a RB or WR in round 2. As far as Moss and coming to Dallas I would be shocked because I think he felt slighted in his draft by the Cowboys.

What about Berrian, he could adjust next year as their #2 WR as very few WR move to a new team and excel in their first year. I believe after next year he could become the #1 WR in Dallas.

Wait a year or give up one of the first round picks this year for Roy Williams; he would be ecstatic to be back in Texas and would be a good replacement for Owens.

I don't think the Lions will get a first for him however I would love to see him with a Star for a second.
