The Jacksonville Jaguars today agreed to terms with veteran free agent cornerback Ahmad Carroll, who was released by the Green Bay Packers on Oct. 3. Carroll is expected to sign a contract on Wednesday. The Jaguars are also expected to place linebacker Mike Peterson on injured reserve on Wednesday after suffering a season-ending injury against the New York Jets.

Joy. Now we get to suffer through an overpaid Brian Williams having lapses in coverage and Ahmad Carroll chasing people into the endzone. At least the former still has a chance to play to his contract; I'm hoping Carroll never sees the field.

I was mildly surprised by this move. Dee Webb looked pretty good in preseason and I had thought he and Starks would be the potential players of the future so to speak at CB. Mathis and Williams seem set as starters, Cousin is still an able nickle, Starks is doing okay at dime, Sensabaugh can play nickle or dime if needed and Webb showed good potential, where does Carroll fit in?

Running down the field as soon as Hanson punts.

That would actually be fine with me. Carroll would probably be a damn good gunner on special teams. I'm just hoping that's all Del Rio expects out of him for now, considering there's no real need for him with Cousins and Starks coming in for nickel/dime packages. Otherwise my best guess would be as a depth move, giving him a chance to make good on all the physical tools he has and holding onto him for cheap just to see if he can. Very low risk/high reward scenario.

Starks was hurt in the Jets game, maybe there's more to his injury than we know about?

It wouldn't surprise me.
