Akinori Iwamura-3B-Devil Rays Apr. 24 - 2:10 pm et

Devil Rays placed infielder Akinori Iwamura on the 15-day disabled list with a strained oblique.

The Rays don't know when Iwamura was hurt Monday. He was able to finish the game against the Yankees, but it was decided Tuesday that he'd need a couple of weeks off. Ty Wigginton, Brendan Harris and Jorge Cantu will see time at third base while Iwamura is out. Carlos Pena and Ben Zobrist stand to also pick up at-bats.

Yes, but don't expect much playing time from him off the bat. It's possible that Zobrist ends up as the odd man out when Iwamura returns. I think Harris sticks.Editing to add: Cantu deserves to play IMO, I just think he'll split time at best right now.

Is it my imagination, or are there an inordinate number of early injuries this year? I already have 3 DL'ers on my roster (Ryan, Harden, Kendrick)

he'll probably split time with Pena at 1B (L-R platoon) with Wigginton taking over third.Zobrist has been squeezed by Harris before the Aki injury.
