Really sad news in my book and only 70 - one of the greats of the modern guitar. I had pleasure to see him with UK and it was a real treat. Loved Tony Williams (who doesn't?) and that's how I listened to him as a teenager. One of my favorites that he wrote - I suggest listening to the Tony Williams stuff with Alan - some real masters at work. And the UK records and many of his records he did with Bill Buford. Some real explorations in guitar.

Never saw him live but I have several CDs (IOU is a classic). Even though he was never huge several other guitarists have cited his influence (EVH, Satch, Stevie Vai & Yngwie)
