Albert Fincher..... (1 Viewer)

Does he have a chance at being a starter for the Saints this year.

I know they just re-signed Shanle but I think Albert is slated for SLB.

Are they any NO insiders out there?

Thanks!

I'm not an insider but he looked way too tentative in his time as a starter in preseason. I suppose the light could come on for him, but if he can't snatch a job from the likes of Shanle or Simoneau, I wouldn't bet on a starting gig in the future. Possible in-season free-agent would be my play.

:pics: When you can't play ahead of Mark Simoneau or Ronald McKinnon, you can't play.

he looked more like a blocking sled on the field during preseason.everyone was knocking him out of the way.

Lavar Arrington is just sitting there in free-agency.
With at least one bad knee, a busted achilles tendon, and statement he is thinking about retirement.Back to Fincher, his year to show he was player was last off-season.

The Saints are going to invest enough at LB this offseason Fincher probably wont even make that squad ...

Not an insider. After seeing him play last preseason, he appears to have ways to go. Maybe the jump from UConn to the NFL is too much. This will most likely be a make or break season for him. As a Fincher owner, I like his intagables, not ready to cut bait just yet, but the clocks tickin.

Any chance he makes a move now that he is on the Lions?Possible MLB in their Tampa-2 def?
If you can't beat out an aged Ronald McKinnon and Mark Simoneau, among many other non-notables, you're lucky to still be in the league. I don't think there's any Shelton Quarles or Paris Lenon to be found here. And this is coming from perhaps the biggest Alfred Fincher apologist (c. 2005 anyway) around these parts.

According to the local beat writers, the Lions are almost certain to draft their future MLB on the first day. Since the Tampa-2 MLB is difficult to grasp, they believe the rookie may start at SLB until he gets his feet wet, with Paris Lenon staying in the middle until the time when the rookie can handle the middle. Fincher appears to be nothing more than depth and a special teams player. The Lions special teams were terrible last year, and Fincher is a very good special teams player. But I can't see any fantasy value there.

Fincher is a guy I invested in last pre-season. He has good size but doesn't seem to get it and isnt as fast as other MLB's out there. I will keep a eye on him but I dont think he ever will be a starter in the NFL.

Okay ... you win  He sure had some nice intangibles though.I don't think there is any way he will play Mike in Detroit. He is depth at best, possibly at Sam, this is providing he makes the opening day roster, which probably a longshot.

One knock on him coming out was; he freelanced too much and didn't play within the framework of the defense. Correct me if I'm wrong here Jene, but this lack of disipline will be magnified in a Tampa-2 scheme.
