Very mindful and respectful of the O's. If CC doesn't win game 1, yanks are in trouble. I think the Yanks take it in 5, O's are hot and clicking and Johnson is doctoring the ball, tough to beat

Lots of relievers do this, I see one a week at least. Some of them don't even seem to hide it to be honest. I think the Yankees are hitting their stride at the right time but I actually don't think they'd win a game 5 because ALL the pressure would be on them. I think they are of the right mindset this year though.

Lots of relievers do this, I see one a week at least. Some of them don't even seem to hide it to be honest. I think the Yankees are hitting their stride at the right time but I actually don't think they'd win a game 5 because ALL the pressure would be on them. I think they are of the right mindset this year though.

Better hope we're not in the position of needing good managing. HUGE advantage to Baltimore there.

Buck has always been able to coach them up, he just always wears out his welcome. I think this time he'll leave when he wants to.

I feel like Buck is now in the "Coughlin with the Giants" phase of his career - his hard-### stuff that wears teams out and turns them off is over. He's still sharp and demanding, but not a total #####.Right now I make this series a coin flip, though I guess Sabathia gives the Yankees the edge. Still real, real bitter that he broke Markakis' hand - not only does it hurt the team, it also denies the one guy who deserves it most the opportunity to play in an Oriole playoff game.

But the Orioles won all 3 series in NY this year and they have no fear of the Yankees. Winning tonight's game makes me feel like they're kind of on a free roll now and the pressure is off.

I have to say, I respect this Yankees team and don't hate their guts as much as some of their predecessors. Once their August slump was over, they played very hardnosed baseball in September, making a great effort to hold off the Orioles, including a couple of ridiculous comebacks.

Camden Yards will be on fire Sunday - will be the best atmosphere in the history of that ballpark, and the best for a baseball game in Baltimore since 1982 or 1983. When Camden Yards was full in the mid-90s, there was a big DC wine and cheese crowd. Now it's just Baltimorons. You will hear the Seven Nation Army chant more than a half-dozen times and the crowd will be like a football crowd.

I'm a pessimist my nature ( :shock: ) but I fully expect CC to come up incredibly small in game 1. Something like 5.1 IP, 7 H, 3 BB, 5 ER sounds about right.

Well I have to admit you have a lot more experience with playoff baseball this decade, er, century. But with these Orioles every single game is a war, independent from and unrelated to the one that comes before. So I think if it's 1-1 going to NY, then it's still a coinflip series.

:goodposting: This isn't your father's Park Avenue Yankees. I'd rather they were, but this is a grind-it-out bunch of Satan's-Spawn...er, Yankees.

My prognosis (which is almost always wrong, so fade me hard):

Buck vs Giradi - Buck

SP - ad-Yanks, though now the Os are set up as well as they can be

Bullpen - Os

Offense - Yanks, even given that the Orioles have Mclouth.

Defense - wash

Intangibles - I'm going Yanks here. I know most Os fans will throw the "house money" thing out there, but I think the fact that NY held off the Os down the stretch will serve them well.

My guess - Yankees in 5

"We were picked to finish in the basement in the AL East. The only guys who believed in us were the guys in our clubhouse. We just kept playing."And so, the Orioles will keep playing well into October."People thought we'd be making tee times right now," O'Day said.

I predict the Orioles win it in 5. They take 3 of 4 one-run games and lose one in a blowout. Negative run differential and still win the series.

 
Wow, had a gf family dinner to hit, taking me from 5p on. Family isn't sports fans and my choice was tonight or tomorrow. Figuring game 2 was bigger either way. I do tonight angling that I'll see the last 3 innings. Well, the baseball goes were with me, just got home and the game about to start!

whew that inning coulda been a lot worse than it ended up. Nice play by Davis to get Tex while the runner stayed on third.
 
Even when Teixiera hits a rocket, he still manages to dissapoint

wow, this has to be Hammel,s last inning. He's thrown 84 pitches coming into the fifth compared to CC with 43 through four.
