use this thread for your excuses, so we can keep them contained to just one thread.

tomlinson said that if the chargers played the pats 10x, that the chargers would win 9.

so, it looks like you guys have a long string of success coming up, if you can manage to make the playoffs......

and just think if you do --- they'll REALLY be motivated by revenge then.

my posted prediction was 27-13 pats

yeah, I can't remember a team filled so full of smack talking #####es based on zero accomplishment.

I guess all they're really after is that trip to hawaii for running it up on chumps all year --- it IS nice in hawaii, though.......

I think maybe the sweetest part of the game wasn't even shutting down tomlinson and his mouth, but actually just running over them w/maroney and morris once we were up.

that's just humiliating.

Yeah, its a shame you haven't voiced your opinion about the Patriots at all this past week. And that's the best you have now, right?
I had no problems with the Pats until they cheated.
Which explains tonight how exactly?
 They were the better team. What they do in the future doesn't change the fact that they cheated in the past. This isn't rocket science here. BB is pretty good, but I don't think he can travel in time.

I'm going to ask you an honest question: Do you think the cheating had much of an effect on the team's success either present or past? Tonight notwithstanding.

Butterscotch Popcorn

1 (12 ounce) package butterscotch morsels

1 cup white corn syrup

1/4 cup butter

12 cups popped popcorn

1 (12 ounce) can salted peanuts

Heat oven to 300 degrees F.

In saucepan, combine butterscotch morsels, corn syrup and butter. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally until mixture boils. Place popcorn and nuts in greased roasting pan. Pour mixture over popcorn; toss to coat well. Bake for 45 minutes, stirring frequently. Remove from oven, stir every 10 minutes until slightly cool. Cool completely.

If it didn't have an affect they wouldn't have done it. As to how much of an affect I have no idea.

OK, you deflect the question in the first and second part. I'm asking what YOU THINK. Not what happened, what you actually know. DO YOU THINK the cheating had an effect. It's pretty simple unless you feel like being evasive.

Very  I actually admired them as the organization to hold others up to, on and off the field. And I don't think I said a single bad thing about them until this week. Actually I didn't like the end of the Charger game last year, baggin on Merriman since they had a known roider on their team and a player now known to have been using PEDs (Harrison) . But until Goodell looks at all the tapes and notes and makes a ruling on this RF issue they are kind of in limbo. I think they showed tonight that they are a great team and didn't need to cheat, but Goodell has ruled that they did, and by the size of the fines I'd say he feels very strongly that they did cheat. My main problem with the Pats are the fans that lump everyone that calls the Pats cheaters (which they ARE) as haters. And trying to be indignant and victimized by all the "haters" talking trash about their team that cheated (which they did). Both Goodell and Kraft, when asked about the "misinterpretation" excuse, dodged the question by saying "I won't speak for Belicheck". It's very clear to both of them that the misinterpretation is a bunch of hooey. We'll see when the results of the investigations come out, but I was dead right on Vick from the beginning and dead right on Boston (David) from the beginning so I'm trusting my gut feeling that more cheating will be brought to light. Which is really too bad because as you saw tonight, they are a very good team.

I'm enjoying it all right, but I'll enjoy this season's Lombardi even more.Four straight coming in November.

That was a thing of beauty. The Chargers are in deep trouble if the wideouts don't do SOMETHING. A great night for Patriots fans everywhere. A total thrashing from top to bottom.

And remember: classy people don't say they're classy.

 I'm not deflecting anything. It obviously had some influence or they wouldn't have done it. Was it a lot? I have no idea, but there are a lot of games determined by one or two plays so any affect is still significant.

yeah, they'll go back to beating up chumps until the playoffs.

enjoy the season.

too bad the pats stole all your signs...........

Pats were the better team today, that's for certain. I am a Chargers fan. No excuses. I hope they play again in the postseason, though hopefully not at New England.

Here's SDs excuse for losing - Norv Turner.

How he got another head coaching job is beyond me... BB just called a WAY better game than him; Norv just got horribly outcoached in every facet of the game. Also, the Patriots players seem to be even faster this season than I remember them, those INTs by Colvin and Adalius were awesome (fully outstretched athletic plays by two LINEBACKERS).

I'm happy.... I'm just going to enjoy this win.

And you were in hiding how many years until your Genius coach made it okay to come out and play? Enjoy your run guy, but spare me with the hiding stuff. No, I'm not a Chargers fan but a Skins fan proudly.

That's what really bothers me. I really resent the Patriots, just because they have been so good for so long. Tom Brady is second only to Peyton Manning as the most fun QBs to watch in the entire league no matter what team you are a fan of. Watching them march up and down the field and the skill level that they play the game is amazing. It just really bothers me that a team that doesn't need to cheat has been. It's not like they got called for cheating against Indy or someone that I thought cheating would make a difference it's really been against the lower end of the talent spectrum. It's almost like cheating in solitaire.

I have to say, LT is coming dangerously close to cementing a reputation as a Whiny Tool.

On the whole, I find the brash arrogance of TO a lot more palatable than the holier-than-thou arrogance of LT.

I agree here. Norv is to blame IMO. It is very difficult to improve upon 14-2, probably something that has never been done. Regardless, they don't look great. I agree with Madden when he says Rivers has looked frazzled since day 1 and he has to find a way to clam down and deal with adversity. Rivers of last year did just that so I gotta figure Marty or Cam did a better job than Norv at this. Whether it was a simple talking to or calling some gimme plays Rivers was better last year. I do think he is their team leader on O, not Tomlinson. I mean several other players copied his reaction.Like Madden said, Gates and LT2 might be enough against weaker teams but against the best Jackson and/or Davis have gotta produce.Last night I wanted to see Tomlinson in a lineman's face. I probably could not think more positive thoughts about a player as I do LT2 but he was probably too much of a sweetheart last night. If not Rivers, then maybe it was his responsibility; there is a time where you may need to give your boys a pep talk LT2. Ultimately though it's Norv's job. They're not moving one of the best DLs unless they're fired up.GB Jamal trying to play with that knee brace on his arm. Perfect "look how hard he's trying" example for him to use right under his nose. And there is no way that was an elbow brace.Cam and Marty used Norv's offense installed in 2001 with some modifications. Well then "what gives"?Put Sproles in, he fires em up. Have Rivers hit Jackson for a few short passes where he has to bowl someone over, that fires em up too. They were so flat last night.Oh and that Drayton Florence is lucky to have a job. Madden or Michaels said "I don't know what he was doing there" once but you could have said that quite a few times. Moss ran some perfect routes and is playing well and all but on a few of those he did nothing, no fake no cut just zoomed right by em' and then Drayton just stood there, almost looking like he was in a hoops defensive stance on one occasion. Sit him down if just for one play, send a message to the team that they're accountable. I saw Welker at least 3 times run right in front of the DB or LB turn around and catch the ball with a good second there where the DB should/could have reacted but didn't. Geesh some of those coverages were horrible. I will say this. It seems the Pats are peaking now and that worries me. In the end, it could be a good thing the Chargers are struggling now. I always hate that line of thinking but I hate it more when it bites ya later on and think there is something to it.

i'm not on any one side here, the Pats were very impressive in their victory. However, Indy can enjoy the superbowl trophy for years and years, every year they make a new one, so there's no worry about "while you've still got it". The Lombardi trophy will always be in the trophy case. ;)

It seems the Pats are peaking now
?????????????based on what -- wishful thinking?you chargers fans are the worst --- when indy won that superbowl I was actually happy for them.I don't know what's the matter w/you people around the rest of the league.

If norv is to blame then you need to blame your GM for firing a successful coach and hiring a tool

:) Post of the day

Dont sweat it . San Diego will bounce back. They wont play the world's best cheaters every week.
I know. Thank god the Pats taped the NY Jets sideline, otherwise the Pats never would have been able to control the whole game against the Chargers making LT look like JJ Arrington. Those Jets' hand singnals are going to be like a free pass to the Super Bowl.

Jesus Christ, I'll be happy when the Pats lose. I thought the toolbox Pats fans were gone for the most part. :lmao:

That's not a blanket statement, as there's plenty of them that are pretty cool SeniorVBDStudent, bostonfred, some others I'm forgetting...but man. The toolish ones are coming out of the woodwork this week.

 I thought Joe had a done a good job eradicating them a few years back. Guess it's time to call Orkin again.

I expected the Pats to win (check the other thread), and I said the Chargers secondary would be victimized. I wasn't expecting anything like this though. The Patriots dominated the entire first half, and the outcome was already sealed by that point. There was not one aspect of the game that I thought the Chargers performed better than the Patriots. There is really no comparing this game to the one in last year's playoffs - except that both of them resulted in a win for New England.
