So you're saying I can use the pad over new years. Thanks man. I'll leave a couple hundos on the counter for housekeeping. No need to give me the address, I'll just find the biggest house I can ski up to. I'm sure it's yours.I am going to talk to him about it tomorrow at the Oaks. Right now, I am planning to say that we've been friends for a long time and that I don't feel good about how the hotel/points has been handled and I wouldn't feel good if I didn't say something. If he hadn't used our place in PC, I'd pay him $900 even though I think he's way overpricing the points--I can buy them for less from Starwood directly. But I think there needs to be some quid pro quo given that he stayed at our place in PC over Sundance.
I really wish he hadn't put me in this position.

Yeah... the value of points when used for hotels tends be very low in my experience. I generally only use them for flights because I usually can get $0.02 - $0.025 per mile that way. Hotels usually don't give that good an exchange rate though.I am going to talk to him about it tomorrow at the Oaks. Had a two minute conversation with him this am, and he agreed with my point of view. He was a complete gentleman and we decided to swap the Sundance weekend for the Derby hotel.![]()
I'm sorry, forgot where I was.New here? All this fuss for nothing.
I'm you it all worked out and this matter is no longer eating you up on the inside.Had a two minute conversation with him this am, and he agreed with my point of view. He was a complete gentleman and we decided to swap the Sundance weekend for the Derby hotel.![]()
thisEnjoy your weekend, don't dwell on things you can't change. Moving forward, you'll know not to give him any favors.
First chance you get, sleep with his wife.![]()
But you're still going to take a dump in his travel bag, no?Had a two minute conversation with him this am, and he agreed with my point of view. He was a complete gentleman and we decided to swap the Sundance weekend for the Derby hotel.![]()

That's about how much I value my Starwood points.I don't have Sheraton points so he booked two rooms on his account--each room was 30k points for the weekend.
This week, he texted me asking if I could bring $900 cash for the room. Obviously, I don't mind paying as they are his points etc but $900 seems like gouging to me. His point is that the hotel has raised their rates 50% since the last time we booked there.
You can't buy more than 20k a year and it would cost you $1050.I think he's way overpricing the points--I can buy them for less from Starwood directly.
A maximum of 20,000 Starpoints may be purchased or received as a gift into your account per calendar year.
How much do Starpoints cost? Is there tax?
Starpoints cost US $.035 per point.
I went to the site last week and they had a "special" for $0.025/point. In my experience, buying points directly from airlines, hotels etc is never a good deal special or not.You can't buy more than 20k a year and it would cost you $1050.I think he's way overpricing the points--I can buy them for less from Starwood directly.
