Am I officially old now? (1 Viewer)

My wife is frustrated because she is not getting many birds even though the feeder has only been up 24 hours   (Personally, I don't think we will get that many because we are in a newer neighborhood and the closest mature trees are along a walking trail about 1 1/2 blocks away but I am not going down that road with her).  One creature that did find it however is a ground squirrel and it is loving all the seeds that are being dropped.  I have found 4 holes in my back yard and I told my wife that this may turn into Caddyshack! (another way for us old guys to date ourselves)

I’ll tell you how I know I’m old - I thought of a great thing to mention in this thread about getting older and now I can’t remember what is was.

You're supposed to take the Alzheimer's and erectile dysfunction drugs together so you won't forget what a good time you had. That's what the Pfizer reps said back in the day when aricept and viagra were new meds.

The only bird feeder I really care about is the humming bird feeder.  Those things are freaking awesome.

Yeah, I'm old.  Currently on my 60th trip around the Sun which is unfathomable to a 24 year old me.  Do you have a link to the bird feeders you have...?  Asking for a friend.

The wife is getting her birds even though most of them are black birds and sparrows.  I have seen a couple rooster pheasants picking up spilled seed from the ground early in the morning.  We have a fairly large bouquet (I had to google what a group of pheasants is called lol) of pheasants behind our house.  A couple times when I have been out on the deck I have counted as many as 20-30 flying up when they have been startled, and we hear them calling regularly during the summer in morning and night.

Picture of my back yard for reference

That’s pretty awesome.

The OCD landscaping guy in me would go nuts with that bird feeder all alone out there. I would have to add a landscaping bed with an ornamental tree and some bushes with nice mulch to frame it all in.

I wanted to put the feeder in the longer grass but the city owns that and a local guy mows and bales it for his horses twice a year.  I got lucky that I married a woman that is not a big flower or garden fan because it draws bees and wasps...lol. Her mother has a lot of landscaping and flower beds and it takes me forever to mow her lawn.  I am not a good landscaper at all, so it worked out well for me.

Bear took out my feeders two weeks ago. Bear did a walk thru/check last week (caught on trail cam)
Need to wait until hibernation before breaking out the feeder again.

I have set up two bird feeders on my back deck and get excited when the birds show up and ticked off when the squirrels show up! I have the squirrel proof feeders, but they still try.

It dawned on me that I must now be old. I could not imagine myself this way five to ten years ago. I’m alright with it too!

Any other bird feeders/watchers?

By the way, stay off my lawn!
I started watching a WW2 doc on Netflix, and really liked it. Wife says to me..."Well, now I know you really are old!"

There's a little chipmunk that sometimes hangs out and suns himself on our front porch step. When we installed new security cameras, I took one of the old ones and laid it out by the front door and renamed it "Chipmunk Cam" and put some acorns out in front of it.

My wife's response, "You know how I know you're getting old?..."

The best purchase I’ve made lately is a back massager, from a thrift store. I’m sitting here reading “the second mountain”, a story about finding yourself midlife.

👴👴👴

Tomorrow night when I go to bed, I will have my bit plate in my mouth, my CPAP on, a bone stimulator on my foot, and a 48 hour heart monitor.

SEXY

You can have your little chipmunks. It is about to turn into Caddyshack in my back yard. Streaked Gophers have holes all over in my back yard. I bought one of these at Lowe's and put under my bird feeders. The little ####s sit right next to it and mock me while they are eating. I put some poison pellets down the holes and while that has helped a little bit, there are still plenty out in the Grass behind my yard. I also tried putting gopher smoke bombs down the holes. Today I bought a pellet gun and am going to shoot them, but I am also out of practice and currently not a very good shot.

4th of July is around the corner, I may just buy a bunch of M80s and drop them down the holes.

How are your tomato plants doing?

In my golf league everyone used to talk about the hot cart girl or server, now they are talking tomato plants and grandkids.

I have a weekly pill thing my wife got me because I was having trouble remember if I took my one daily med and my two daily OTC supplements. I load it every Sunday night.
