Amani Toomer going forward (1 Viewer)

Toomer is leading all WRs so far with 12 receptions. He's also got 137 yards and 2 TDs (1 in each game) and has been targeted 20 times, good for 8th so far. Burress has 6 receptions for 114 yards and 1 TD and 17 targets, putting him at 18th. I understand that teams will key Burress and Toomer is more of a possession type WR. But is it out of line to expect him to hit the 1,000 yard mark this season? Eli is looking good and so is the entire offense. He did manage to have 7 TDs last season so repeating that shouldn't be very difficult I wouldn't think. On the other hand, he hasn't had 1,000 yards since 2003.

Possible to finish with 1,000 yards and 7 or 8 TDs this year? He's starting out hot and the offense is definitely clicking. Even if he doesn't look to put up the yardage, good for some consistent TD production?

What is everybody's thoughts?

His numbers are helped by the fact that Shockey is nicked up a bit. Still, it looks like Eli is looking his way as a possession receiver. I think his value is greater in PPR leagues - he may not do what he did this week, but he'll still be targeted a lot and that should lead to about 6 rec, 80 yd, and a touch every now and again as a conservative estimate. Should Shockey's ankle feel better, his numbers may go down a bit.

Definitely solid WR3, borderline WR2 as a safe guess.

I was Toomer's biggest advocate this offseason. But, I think there is no way you can extrapolate these 2 games times 8. But, I think a 800-1000 yd, 70 catch, 7-8 TD season is easily attainable. Toomer is value in every draft.

last year he had 60+ catches, 600+ yds, and 7 TDs to give perspective.

Sell high.

I think you should sit tight with him until Shockey gets back in the mix. Shockey is not healthy and is not getting targets; Toomer is taking Shockey's targets.

Eli developed great chemistry with Toomer in the 2nd half of last season.

The Giants throw the ball a ton.

Eli getting better as he enters his 3rd year.

Toomer had value written all over him this year and is paying off in spades right now.

I expect he will slow down somewhat moving forward as defenses focus on him more. But they cannot really do that or Plax will burn them deep. So Toomer is the lesser of 2 evils for defenses right now.

I think he is a solid Wr 2 and borderline top 12 Wr EOY

Im also tracking this as study on how Qb completion percentage effects catch percentage.

Never say never.... look how Galloway snuck up on us last year. They are different types of players, but don't rule it out. He's a solid red zone target who may just have one of those years...

In the last seven games last year he caught five touchdowns, average between 5-6 catches per game and around 70 yards. Toomer became Eli's go to guy when ever he got in trouble, and I wouldn't be surprised if the trend continues. Plax has always been a big play threat but according to several of his teammates he is not always the most reliable route runner. Toomer is a savy veteran who I could see putting up Rod Smith type numbers, as Eli continues to improve.

Guys i love Toomer but he is getting old. He acually had to be carried (literally) to the locker room after last weeks game and went through 4 IV bags. Got that from Giants.com.

Giants | Barber and Toomer competing for record

Published Tue Sep 19 4:22:00 p.m. ET 2006

(KFFL) Michael Eisen, of Giants.com, reports New York Giants RB Tiki Barber and WR Amani Toomer are competing to be the team's all-time leader in receptions. Toomer entered the season as No. 1 on the list, one catch ahead of Barber, with 529 career receptions. Two weeks into the season, Toomer is still in the lead with 546 receptions over Barber's 540 receptions.

Dynasty=Sell high if you have decent backups

Otherwise he could make for a solid #3

But I still would go with the sell high factor.

Intersting to see what happens with Tiki's injury though, and how it could effect the passing game

There were a lot of players that had to get IVs. Prior to Kearse getting injured for the final time, he was down cramping due to dehydration. It has nothing to do with age.

Dude, those are Toomer's and Burress' numbers for ONE GAME. Check you stats.I think is still a solid WR. Probably a good WR3 for the rest of the season.

If I recall correctly, a large % of that came in the last 6 or 7 games. Perhaps coincidence. Perhaps developing chemistry with Manning.
