I'm not sold on Toomer for a full season, but I really like him for week 1. Going against the Colts there will be a bunch of points scored & I expect the Mannings to put on a show. Considering that there seems to be some sort of bad blood/concern with Manning/Burress, I expect Toomer to have a nice game. Truthfully, if you look at the last half of last season, Toomer's numbers were just as good as Plax's (actually nicer as far as receptions). The situation reminds me of the Bucs at the beginning of last year. If people had looked, Galloway put together a nice 5-6 weeks at the end of the 2004 season. Forshadowing his 2005 success. I won't predict that kind of success for Toomer, but it did look like he & Manning got on the same page as the season progressed. For this week, we have him as the 14th rated NFL-WR2, in the early-40s of the WR rankings. Toomer falls in to tthat range of WR in my opinion that is useful when he scores, but without TDs, his yardage won't be enough to justify playing him. Hopefully, you have better regular starting options, but he's definitely worth rostering as a strong WR4 for depth and bye-week coverage.
That meshes well with Bledsoe's early season success and late season fades. It would be interesting to work a mid-season trade of one for the other (obviously with something else thrown in).Judge Smails said:I'll let you in on my secret about Amani Toomer. I ALWAYS try to trade for him or pick him up on the waiver wire around week 8. For whatever reason, he's always been much, much better in the 2nd half. Wouldn't be surprised to see him throw up 5 or 6 dog games out of the first 8...Just the way he rolls..
I didn't know he'd earned a roster spot. Good for him. GO VOLS!Oscar said:Speaking of WR#2, does anybody feel that Peerless Price could make some noise this year or is everybody completely sold on the fact that Buffalo's offense isn't that good?

Disagree.Toomers targets are limited as the 3rd or 4th option for the Giants.Coles is the undisputed 1st target for the Jets. He seems to be healthy again, is paired up with a guy that loves throwing to him, and is playing for an awful offense with a non-existent running game. I think Coles upside is much closer to top 15 while Toomer is around 40 or so.redman said:I think he's comparable to Coles in terms of his statistical attributes and values this year. He's a WR3 in fantasy, unless you're in a PPR league in which case he's a WR2.
Coles is a farce, he always has been an underacheiver. He is a slightly above average WR in a very bad system.Disagree.Toomers targets are limited as the 3rd or 4th option for the Giants.Coles is the undisputed 1st target for the Jets. Nonetheless, he still was the #13 WR the last two years he's been healthy and paired with Pennington.Even if you knock him down 20 spots based on opinion of him, his upside is still significantly higher than Toomers, who last year ranked #32 and has no change in his situation over last year.*edit to correct ranking error*Coles is a farce, he always has been an underacheiver. He is a slightly above average WR in a very bad system.Disagree.Toomers targets are limited as the 3rd or 4th option for the Giants.Coles is the undisputed 1st target for the Jets. I've only seen one Giants game this preseason & that was something the announcers discussed throughout the whole period the starters were in. Burress is an immature player & there is an issue between him & Manning. I don't really have an opinion on whether it would make any difference in either players numbers, but if things start going south, Plax could be a problem. He has now shown that side in both Pitt & NY, it probably won't be a problem, but there is always the chance.mcd said:Considering that there seems to be some sort of bad blood/concern with Manning/Burress, I expect Toomer to have a nice game. I didn't notice anything obvious at either preseason game I was at.In fact, I think the only "long" pass Manning threw all pre-season went to Plax.
And Toomer was drafted at WR50 or lower for most of offseason.82nd last year? In what scoring system? He was 33rd using FBGuy scorring. Justin Gage and his 346y/2td were 82nd...
Aw crap, I looked at overall rank. My bad, thanks for the catch.82nd last year? In what scoring system? He was 33rd using FBGuy scorring. Justin Gage and his 346y/2td were 82nd...
