American Idol will be back for a 15th season and final season.

Fox announced Monday that it had renewed the aging singing competition, and the current judges roster of Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick, Jr. will all return with it — as will long-running host Ryan Seacrest.

The network did not mince words in its announcement of the renewal, confirming No. 15 would be the last for the one-time behemoth and referring to it as a "season-long celebratory event."

the wife thinks they should end it with Simon, Paula, the girl who won the first one and is a massive star but I still can't remember her name and Harry.

full credit to the show, her, Clarkson and Hudson are massive stars... solely to their appearances on AI. they have a number of other people who are still making a legitimate run of it in the music industry. and that grey-haired guy. wtf was that about.

Taylor!!! I remember him. I loved that guy.....he should have never won it but he was a good soul.

Loved listening to him during the season... but he was NOT a pop star, which is what AI tried to make him into, and thus he nosed dived into oblivion.

Same with Caleb Johnson..

NOT a Pop star.. Great Rock voice, better off being a lead singer in a band.. But right now has to play out his AI contract.

He took on Paul McCartney, Stephen Tyler, David Coverdale, & the above Robert Plant .. Talk about taking on a challenge, and doing well with all.

After making it this far and prepping three songs, Jax deserved a better send-off. If they wanted a clean break fro the rest of the show, they could have let her sing and gone to commercial. I would not be surprised if Scott still signs her. I bet she was his choice of the three.

It's been that way all year. The sendoff this year were all incredibly weak. I thought I would like the one night a week thing, but I really hate it. I thought the last song they let the top 12 sing after being eliminated was a pretty cool moment usually. I hate that they removed that portion. I hated the making them sing immediately after they found out they were not eliminated, it really hurt a lot of the performances.

And the twitter save was just fcking stupid.

Agreed, but the others all got to sing a song. Rayvon got to sing three when no longer in contention (which I am not advocating.)

And not one judge acknowledged her (possibly given that direction). Even early on, when Maddy and someone else was cut, Keith at least said something after his 1st critique like "Shout out to... We're going to miss you girls."

Called my shot . I know I put this when they were down to 3 but he had to have been considered the underdog.

Because he's old enough to be their dad! Teen age girls are supposed to be voting for other teenagers or at worst early 20 sometime guys. I have a 15 year old daughter and to her and her friends anyone past their mid 20s is old.
