And Then Shanny Had Two... (1 Viewer)

Looks like Shanahan may drive people 1/3rd less crazy now.

Tim Hightower - RB - RedskinsTim Hightower left Sunday's game against the Panthers in the third quarter with an apparent left knee injury. This one looked really bad. Hightower went to plant his left leg for a hard cut, but his left knee buckled in a dreaded non-contact injury. Prior to going down, Hightower had racked up 17 carries for 88 yards while Ryan Torain and Roy Helu combined for two carries. Torain is now on as the feature back.

Hightower doesn't think he tore his ACL.

The MRI machine has yet to render its opinion....

Stay tuned.

there are manual acl tests that are quite accurate. id imagine he checked out ok on those which is a great sign obv.

FBG news ticker said Redskins medical staff believes he tore acl, so maybe those manual tests weren't so positive.

Unfortunate break for Hightower. Looked really good again today. Running with the same authority he did this preseason and early in the year. Guy has really improved tenfold from his early Arizona days.

Reminds me a lot of Mike Anderson. Solid, well rounded hard nosed back. Not the flashiest player, but will always have a job somewhere.

haha, seems so. wonder why he is claiming otherwise.

Fear of losing his job? Or, the power of positive thinking?

Not really.
I was under the assumption that they can semi-conclude from various on site tests if it is ACL-related. Of course the MRI will clarify/confirm, but that the old-school method is fairly accurate. I'm also not a doctor, but have had my share of experience with injury.

They can and they're very accurate. I've torn mine twice. Once was a partial tear and the second time a complete tear. They can move your knee around certain ways and if there's give where there's not supposed to be give, they can tell almost for sure if it's an ACL or not. My doctors provided an accurate diagnosis of an ACL tear both times using the manual method.

I'm sure with a million dollar pro athlete they want proof positive, but yes, the manual field test is pretty darn accurate.
