Andre Brown (1 Viewer)

Arghhh! My season is over! It done! No way I can recover from this horrible setback. I am giving up fantasy football. Its just too unpredictable! Oh the Humanity!!

Seriously though, I hate to see this happen to these kids in their first year in the league. It is already such an uphill climb to make it into the league and then have a season ender happen to you has got to be a mental blow that shakes them at the core. I mean it really has to test their character. Will He work hard and stay dedicated to the rehab? I think so. Hurry every chance you get.

Now I retire to put on ash and sack cloth!

Giants have an odd injury history with their skill position rooks. No clue why but I can't think of the last one to play significantly and last 16 games.

What is the typical recovery timeframe for an Achilles'?

I know the common perception is that a player doesn't fully recover from an ACL tear until 2 years down the road (even though most return the following season).

What's the book on an Achilles'?

So the backup is now Bradshaw or Ware?
The depth chart will say Bradshaw. The reality is both.
If looking for upside, I say it is Ware. Clearly Jacobs will get the majority of fantasy points if healthy. If he gets hurt the majority of points will go to Ware. Bradshaw will put up points like leon Washington has, but the majority of points go to the starting RB
we'll tonight when the Giants are on

You think the first pre-season game will give you a good indicator how they plan on using their RBs? Allen Patrick may be the leading rushing at the end of the game but that doesn't mean everyone should run the the wire and pick him up.

I'm tempted to add him to my taxi because of the following scenario...

Danny ware is a Free agent and they don't bring him back

A. Brown comes back healthy and gets a chance to compete.

A. Brown beats out Gartrell for #3 back and plays well enough in camp to share #2 duties.

Brandon Jacobs continues his quick decline and Brown becomes everydown back with Bradshaw being change of pace. (might take most of 2010 to happen - or injury to jacobs)

Worst case they resign Ware and I cut both Ware and Brown from my Taxi.

Not many big backs are fantasy studs. Jacobs was unique because of his rare size/speed combo. But in the nfl, your speed edge is always tiny. If he has lost even a miniscule step, then he becomes pedestrian. He might still try to run with the same style he used to but he no longer beats the ends or the hole closes just a tiny bit too soon. It shaves huge chunks off of his YPC and redners him inneffective and he slowly changes his run style to a between the tackles pile mover and gets used only sparingly in short yardage and goal line situations... if that. Don't forget how big Andre Brown is too.

Given how Bradshaw has played, if his foot heals, why not make him the new Tiki Barber? And then use a decrepit Jacobs or raw Gartrell/Brown as just a short yardage, COP back.

Throughout his entire career he has been an underachiever with serious durability issues. I guess that could change, but it seems like that's who he is.

Perhaps this could be the case, but still the Tiki's of the NFL are rare. Bradshaw's timeshare has been bumped up a lot this year and so far he's not taking the world by storm. That's not to say he's doing badly, but where are those gamebreaking plays he is supposedly so capable of? I think after this season they will be more interested in keeping Bradshaw in a 8-12 carry dynamic role rhater than a 12-18 carry all purpose runner.

He was making gamebreaking plays prior to cracking a bone in his foot. That injury seemed to have caused him much of his explosiveness.

yep

Looks like his comeback will have to wait at least 4 more games:

per Tom Rock, Giants beat writer:

Andre Brown may got a ring, but he's also got a problem: he's suspended 4 games for violating NFL's policy on perf enhancing substances.

He had a 4 game suspension lifted on appeal before training camp. (From April 27, 2012 "@TomRock_NewsdayAndre Brown may not have to worry about his four game suspension after all.) Suspension Overturned

Tom Rock wrote today:

"There's a chance Brown could be the Giants' starting running back on Thursday night when they face the Panthers."
