Andre Johnson (1 Viewer)

Andre Johnson is progressing in his recovery from his nagging ankle injury and should play Sunday versus the Giants, according to Jason LaCanfora of the NFL Network.

Maybe Johnson is a go this week? Where would he be in your Wr rankings if he was starting against the Gmen?

If he plays he's in the "must-start" tier of rankings for this week.
Yeah I saw that Bloom and Dodds are both banking on him playing and having a good game at home vs the gmen. I look at other fantasy sites and they take quite a different stance on Andre for this weekend. Right now he is in my line up and T.O. is on the bench. I will watch the pregame Mort report and go from there.

Same here. I fully expect that he'll play. You kind of got the vibe last week that he was going to miss the game....and he did. This week it seems 90% that he'll play...at least that's my take.

At least it's at 1pm this week. I was lucky and had him on the bench, but I'm sure a lot of people got burnt. This week, at 12:30, the mystery will be solved.

Personally, a lot of injuries and bye weeks. I need him to play!

The Giants are a joke and everyone will see that. Their pass D is very beatable. Their whole D is beatable. Aside from beating on an atrocious bears o-line they have done nothing. they beat the stupid panthers, WOW. The colts and titans showed that any team that is good will probably dismantle the giants D and that nothing has changed from last years slide. Andre can have a very big day, but there are a couple factors that could ruin that.

1. A run heavy attack with Arian is always a possibility. The Giants D has actually done a passable job vs running backs, outside of the game vs the colts (took CJ a TON of carries to be productive), but the panthers titans and bears all have either o-line or qb problems. the only team with a good qb was the colts and the Giants overcompensated and brown and addai ate them up. The Texans would be wise to give Foster 25+ touches.

2. Eli Manning. As a Giants fan I watch him every week. Alot of people whine that his interceptions arent his fault. Complete b.s. Theres a reason recievers are dropping or knocking balls in the air. his accuracy has taken a big step back this year, he cant lead a single receiver anymore, every ball is behind a receiver so when they try to catch it and miss, it gets tipped up in the air. I will even ignore that ridiculous left handed shot put pass he tried vs the titans at the goal line.

http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/2010091206/2...recap#tab:watch Scroll down to "Charles godrey int" and ignore tony seragusa's stupid comment, nicks is sitting wide open and that ball is clearly behind his head. This has been a common factor, there are a ton more examples of this. My point about this is, even tho the Texans pass D is bad, if Manning throws and int or 2 and that #2 run D of houston shuts down ahmad, the Texans can take a 2 touchdown lead by halftime and have no reason to come out passing.

An obvious factor would be constant double teaming, but the Giants dont have the personnel to put even 3 guys on him that can stop him.

My overall thoughts are that Johnson will probably see a healthy dose of targets because Schaub will be happy to have him back, and look his way alot. It's no coincidence that Schaub's only top 5 game was when andre was a monster (ok the 17 point deficit had something to do with it). The potential for a monster game is always there, but i think he will produce mid to low end wr1 numbers this week, somewhere in the 6 rec, 80-90 yard, 1 td range.

Good write up, as an Andre owner I appreciate it. Also I before E, unless it comes after a C and alot is not a word.

This gets us off topic a tad, but I've been saying this for years. The best thing that Manning had going for him for years was having Plaxico Burress and his leaping ability and 9-year wing span at his disposal. Eli is not an accurate passer, and often misses high. The David Tyree Super Bowl catch is, in its own way, a microcosm of the mostly charmed NFL life that Eli has led.

I think if you are 4-0 or 3-1 in your league you play him. If you are 2-2 or 1-3 then you may be more inclined to bench him to avoid a possible goose egg. Finding myself in the 1-3 category I am going with Tampa Bay Mike for just that reason. I need AJ healthy, I wish he would just sit out until he's ready. This is a dumb situation really for HOU. Kubiak should tell him to rest and get off the ankle. After last week's game he should have been off the ankle for the entire week, all IMO of course.

Edited to add, they can beat this NYG team in HOU w/o AJ. Why not give him the week off? With KC, @IND, SD, @JAC and @NYJ the next 5 games, who gives a crap about a game vs the NFC?

You prob got your 1 win in week 2 when AJ went off. If he plays there is always potential for that. I'm not saying you must play him, but he is pretty tough, and if hes out there he could always go off. More upside than Williams. See the reports Sun am....look at Steven Jackson last week he wasnt suppossed to play had 20 points. Good luck!

u are nuts. your record shouldnt change the fact that AJ is a beast and if playing should be started.

Prospects for Andre Johnson moving forward?

Does he finish as a Top-5 WR (statting from Week 5-16)?

Is he worth trading a Ranked (say) 4-8 QB (like Brady, Roethlisberger or Romo) or low RB1 (MJD, Rice) for?

Or do his owners sit and hold and refuse all offers? Thinking of offering very high for him in a couple leagues, just wondering if his injury is something that is really viewed a season long problem? Didn't he have a year a couple seasons ago where he was limited for much of the season?

There is minor concern that the ankle injury can become a nagging issue. And there seems to be more balance with run ahd pass. However, there is still no other wr id rather have than Andre Johnson.

Moving forward, I have him as my #3 wr, behind Roddy White and Miles Austin. I could maybe see bumping him all the way down to 5-6, and as high as #1. Basically, he's still the stud he was pre-ankle injury.

Gotta start him but I've seen this scenario many times before. Stud goes out on bad wheels, everyone starts him and in the 1st drive or 2, he tweeks it and that it for the day.

Yeah, it looks like he's starting so what we hear about him pre-game tomorrow is really pointless. It comes down to how much he can do on the field and if he lasts the whole game.

To me, it comes down to how deep your team is. I have him on two teams. Both teams deep at wr and play weak teams this week. I am going to start a lessor wr who I feel will play 4 quarters. Now, if I was a serious underdog, I might roll the dice.

Facing the same choice and going the other way. Can't see benching T.O. after the week he just had. Obviously AJ is a stud but as has been mentioned, the potential for a 2- or 3- series afternoon is definitely a concern.FWIW DeSean Jackson is the other guy I could bench.
