I would hope that there is still an open competition between Kuroda, Hughes and Pettite.

Kuroda is old and on a 1 year deal. If I'm Hughes and I get sent to the pen, I think I demand a trade. They've jerked him around his entire career. Part of it was due to injuries, but he needs to get a legitimate shot (with a long leash) if he's healthy.
