CB Deltha O'Neal arrested overnight in Clermont County with DUI, actually OVI. Stopped at checkpoint. The sad thing is he is 7 year veteran, not a rookie like some of these fools getting arrrested. This is getting embarassing.

Bengals Player Arrested For DUI

LAST UPDATE: 12/9/2006 7:34:10 AM

A Cincinnati Bengal was arrested Friday night for DUI.

Bengals cornerback Deltha O'Neal was charged with driving while intoxicated. Police officers were operating a DUI checkpoint in Pierce Township, Clermont County arrested O'Neal. The Ohio Highway Patrol said O'Neal was alone in his vehicle when he stopped at the checkpoint around 12:30 a.m.

Troopers say O'Neal was released on his own recognizance. He's scheduled to appear in Clermont County court on December 12.

O'Neal was the 8th Bengals player arrested this year

What the hell kind of show is Marvin Lewis running over there?
Marvin can only control what they do when they are at work. Does your boss get blamed for what you or I might do wrong? Individual accountability!

I'm all for individual accountability, but when there is such an obvious systemic problem in one organization, a "culture" on the Bengals clearly exists that is being (at the least) tacitly accepted by the management and must be changed. That responsibility lies with the coaching staff, ownership and the entire management team for they are the (alleged) authority figures in that organization.

Have you been in Cincinnati? I think the only thing to do there is to drink (and carry around a lot of guns in your car while wearing a bullet proof vest)..

So does he play this weekend? The Bengals pass defense has been bad this year, and this could prove to be a field day for the Raiders (god I can't believe I said that). I'm actually considering Randy Moss as a flex this weekend (over Dillon, Foster, Sammy Morris, and Muhammed). I know it's a HUGE gamble, but might be one worth making. :wall:

Time for another public service announcement, I see.Moss would not catch a pass if Cincinnati had NO defensive backs on the field.

Two arrests is a coincidence. Three is a trend.

Eight is a joke. Good thing they are only the second-saddest team in town this weekend.

From the Sports Guy's column yesterday:

Now that we have that settled -- what about seven Bengals players getting arrested out of 53? That's 13 percent of the team! Imagine if 13 percent of your office or classroom had been arrested in the past few months? Can they get to 10 before the end of the season? You figure with holiday parties coming, that's good for one DUI. And the holidays bring visitors and family members, which usually brings trouble, so that's good for some sort of incident at a party or a club. So we only need one more wild-card arrest -- something harmless like speeding and attempting to evade an officer, or shoplifting a Christmas present of something -- and then we'll be at 10. Now that would be something. Ten Bengals arrested in one year? We'll be telling our grandkids about that one. Keep your fingers crossed.

O'Neal had been demoted to third corner earlier in the week to make room for rookie Johnathan Joseph, who's the best corner on the team right now. Marvin Lewis is unlikely to comment before tomorrow but the Bengal beat writers think O'Neal will probably be active.

I hate to say it but I won a $100 on this arrest. Bodog offered a line this week on the odds a Bengal would be arrested before this season ended and I took it. Thanks Deltha.

I don't work as an NFL player, as part of a team who I am publicly identified with and the connection to which gets publicized when I'm arrested, and for which I'm disciplined by my league. If 8 members of the White House staff were arrested for separate incidents I guarantee you people would be asking about Bush; if 8 members of Steven Spielberg's staff were arrested for separate incidents I guarantee you people would be asking about Speilberg. For all of his other coaching talent, Marvin has clearly failed to screen for character and to make it clear that this behavior is unacceptable.

Im not defending O'Neal's actions in any way but to correct the headline link, It was actually a DWI, he had a blood-alcohol level of 0.10, above Ohio's legal limit of 0.08, With what i know about BAC and alcohol im assuming he had around 4 drinks that night. :banned:

Im not defending this but i know that many of us had 4 or 5 drinks at a bar and drove home.

But what is the count now on Bengals players?, i lost count

It doesn't say what he blew, but I imagine many people who had 3 drinks in a restaurant would blow a .08 at a checkpoint.

Just read he blew a .10.

What were the odds?
+300 that one would be arrested and I think -500 that one would not be. So I had to bet $33.33 to win $100.Also, the bet was any arrests before the SB. My thinking was when the Bengals season ended one of them would go off half cocked and get in trouble plus I liked the 3 to 1 odds. I did not expect it to happen this quickly.

Have we just seen an NFL record set here? What's the most players one team has had arrested during one season?

The other thing to remember is that while these guys tend to be above average size, but they also have below average body fat meaning that the alcohol doesn't absorb in their bodies like it does in the average, out-of-shape person. You or I might not even feel a .08 while these guys may have a buzz.
