So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
No offense but you drafted a TE in the 3rd or 4th round with a known foot problem and you didnt back him up with a decent backup? So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
I made the same mistakeNo offense but you drafted a TE in the 3rd or 4th round with a known foot problem and you didnt back him up with a decent backup? So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
None taken. I blundered. #####. I have modest backups... really wanted some firepower at TE, since my league is TE heavy. No offense but you drafted a TE in the 3rd or 4th round with a known foot problem and you didnt back him up with a decent backup? So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
You don't back up a TE you draft in round 3 or 4. You draft them expecting consistent production year long.No offense but you drafted a TE in the 3rd or 4th round with a known foot problem and you didnt back him up with a decent backup? So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
Gates is definitely a disasterous pick. The opportunity cost of another player at his ADP is obviously really the worst part.SEason destroying.Well i backed him up with hernandez and see what that got me. Football is turning into baseball with all of these pansy a@@es that get hurt when the wind blows too hard. I mean how long is this foot thing going to go on, its ridiculous. Either tell him to retire or put him on freakin IR. This will be the theme the rest of the year...well its sore, he didnt practice, he may or may not play, he's a gametime decision, its his "time of the month and he has heavy flow". This has gotten so old and i can't belive i wasted a high pcik on him. Now my season is officially @%#$#$ since i am losing him, lost hernandez, lost colston, etc etc etc.
A little overdramatic aren't we? The loss/decline of Gates would be big but far from season destroying if you drafted good depth. Much easier to overcome than the loss of a stud rb/wr (e.g. Charles).Gates is definitely a disasterous pick. Did he get a free bowl of soup with that boot? looks good on you thoughbuddy of mine says he heard Gates is in a walking boot
so you're that guy with the injured player. So I am EFFED at TE. Sweet.
Can't do anything but laugh at those getting so upset that they spent a high draft pick on him since his injury history is so well known and Gates himself has said several times that the condition wasn't going away. It's like getting mad at a compass for pointing north. I have more understanding for those that spent a high draft pick for Peyton Manning after it was known he'd miss time.'Ladsud said:Lots of tears in here, if you cant deal with injuries in fantasy football you have the wrong hobby.
huh? he missed a ton of games last yri dunno, gates has always had the condition and always been able to play, so i can see why ppl trivialized it.
No the point is: Gates is not 2Xs anymoreand every other year he played 16 games on it. the point is, he had proven he was far more likely to play thru the injury than not.
he tore his platar fascia last yr. what does him playing 16games in his previous yrs have to do with anything?and every other year he played 16 games on it. the point is, he had proven he was far more likely to play thru the injury than not.
when did i say that?well that is easy to say now, but the guy was loling at ppl for drafting gates. so ill just lol at hindsight bias.
nopeyou didnt, someone else did. hasnt he had fascia problems for many yrs now?
I had him last year, and it was great for a little while, then he was terrible because he'd leave games and then miss them making him worthless. Most knew to stay away and let someone else grab this head ache. Sure hindsight is 20/20 but those that feel they were blindsided by this just didn't bother to do a little investigation into Gates.well that is easy to say now, but the guy was loling at ppl for drafting gates. so ill just lol at hindsight bias.
He tore it week 8 last year and had been having problems with his feet the 2 weeks prior to that. The week 9 game was the first time he'd ever missed a game since 2005, that one may not have been due to injury though. Last year Gates would usually say he'd be able to play, that it felt a lot better and then leave the game early or be a GTD.Prior to that he had foot and ankle injuries during 2008 & 2009 but hadn't missed time. The red flag people seem to have missed was the amount of time he missed last year and Gate's comments during the offseason that this was going to be a chronic problem of pain management.you didnt, someone else did. hasnt he had fascia problems for many yrs now?
Sure it was a red flag, but there was no real way to know how limited he would be. There still isn't really a way to know that...if it was such a red flag why was he universally considered the No. 1 TE in preseason rankings? He tore it week 8 last year and had been having problems with his feet the 2 weeks prior to that. The lockout preventing OTAs, Gates would have missed them and that would have lowered his ranking. Eli had the same diagnosis and hasn't had a problem since so that probably alleviated concerns. The thing was Gates had made comments during the off season that indicated his injury was going to be chronic. I stayed away because Gates was only choosing to rest the foot and not attempting other treatments such as cortisol shots or cryosurgery. Cryosurgery is the more invasive, more effective procedure and would have only taken 1-2 weeks recovery time.Sure it was a red flag, but there was no real way to know how limited he would be.
