Any hope for Alex Gordon? (1 Viewer)

Thinking about grabbing him based on keeper potential alone. Any hope that he actually performs during the 2nd half? We have no bench in our league, so if he's on my roster, his stats will count. OBP instead of AVG. I would be dropping Nick Johnson. Thoughts?

I'm not really sure. Johnson is slumping pretty bad right now and doesn't really hit for much power. He's also getting sat in favor of Dunn at 1B occasionally. He's great in an OBP league though. Gordon probably won't run at all the rest of the year. As long as I can stomach Gordon for the rest of this season, Ill probably keep him for next year based on "potential" alone. I would not have kept Nick.

Admittedly, Gordon this year doesn't stack up - but that is due to injury. Overall, I would say Gordon compared to his position is better long term than Johnson comapred to his position. Too many good offensive first basemen and at 31 I doubt Nick Johnson is going to make marked improvements. He is what he is, a serviceable backup 1B playing in a pitchers park. Gordon is younger, at a weaker position, and in a neutral park.
