Any iPhone/iPad apps with play by play? (1 Viewer)

Thinking about buying an iPad - but wondered if you guys know of any good apps that will do play-by-play similar to ESPN and CBS Sportsline's scoreboard?

ESPN ScoreCenter XL sounds like what you're looking for.

I'm on the lookout for the same type of thing for upcoming football season so have no experience with this one yet. Looks good, but many of the user comments talk about it crashing a lot.

ETA: SportsTap is a Free App that I donwloaded that looks to have play by play and box scores, etc. Nothing fancy but looks to have decent info.

Hmm, XL looks promising. Sounds like they added an update for the crashing?Do you know if it shows all the games play by play on one screen like CBS Sportsline? I'd gladly pay for an app, doesn't have to be free.

I like Sportactular. A free app. I think it has play by play, but not sure.
Just searched for this one...they ony have it for iPhone, not iPad.
Don't iPhone apps work on the iPad if they don't require phone specific functions?
They usually do, but the advantage to the iPad is that it is bigger, and can fit more information on the screen. The right app could have play by play of all the live games going on one screen... if someone would make it.

Don't know, haven't made the purchase yet as woudn't need it until Football season starts.SportsTap and theScore are two free apps that I downloaded to give a try leading up to football season (can check them out with baseball games now to see what they include)...if those aren't up to snuff than I'll make a purchase of a better one.I'm hoping before the NFL season a solid NFL app is released (like they have specifically for MLB)

I'm with you. Well, if you find anything out let me know.

Not what you are looking for but I found the "Citizen Sports Fantasy Football" free iPhone (don't know about iPad) app helpful last year. Load in your teams (by roster) and it will keep your players stats up to date and will "push" notify you when one of your players scores. It was pretty buggy last season but I still enjoyed it especially for those times when I wasn't in front of the tv. I'm also interested in a play by play app or really any good apps available (besides fbg of course).

I saw Yahoo just bought them, so maybe they will put some muscle behind this app.

OK finally got my Ipad.. Been checking out some live scoring apps. Basically none of the apps listed do "full screen" live scoring updates.

ESPNs scoreboard works worst case, but you would think the right app would be huge.

I take it back... ESPN NFL Scoreboard doesn't work. No websites or apps that I can see that can run play by play of multiple games. Brutal.

Note I am using an android phone not iphone

plusmo.com is pretty cool for apps and (although I'm not so comfy with it) creating your own mix of stuff.

They have an NFL one that claims to have play by play but we'll see in season

You need to check out this great new App for mobile platforms.

http://www.thumpfootball.com

Thump Football lets you compete with friends while watching live football games. Simply predict what your team will do next, and win points when you’re correct.

Before a play begins, select what you think will happen next, such as RUN and 1st-DOWN. You can make a single selection. You can select everything. Or you can sit out and wait for the right play.

Each pick has odds that determine how much you win. RUN and PASS are even odds (1:1). Each time you select RUN or PASS, you risk 100 points to win 100 points

When you’re really confident with your picks, throw down a Double Dog or Triple Dog to double or triple your winnings for that play

Keep track of your progress in the mini-leaderboard. Click on it to see everyone in your group.

Anybody tried Citizen Sports App this year? I can't get it to notify me when a player scores. Anybody have any other suggestions for an app that will push notifications to you when a player scores? Thanks.
