Any Jacksonville homers have the scoop on the starting QB? (1 Viewer)

Jack backed David yesterday in his PC..said that it was not Garrards fault..that other players have to do their job.

It is looking like it is Garrards job to lose.

Thanks for taking the time to respond (both of you)
I have found this intriguing because I view Lefty as a pretty solid QB. Not great, but not a problem either. this entire notion of them winning under Garrard is a little weak if you ask me. Now that they have lost to Houston, does that change the fact that Garrard in his career is about a 55% completion ration with only a 6.2 YP attempt. That is very lose and even if you take the last two years it is only 6.5 YPA. I know he scrambles pretty well, but he is not Mike Vick or even Seneca Wallace. Garrard seems to be a very good backup and a possible serviceable starter. Lefty I think is a little better than that.

I'm a relocated Jags fan so I don't have access to local papers or anything.

But I get the feeling Lefty's days in J-ville may be numbered. I think Del Rio has given the impression that it is Garrard's job for the rest of the season.

It could be that Del Rio is showcasing Garrard to get more value for him should they trade Garrard, or they plan on getting rid of Lefty in the offseason and they want him to be totally healthy so he can pass a physical for another team.

Just my 2 cents.

Del Rio laid the blame of 3 of the 4 INTs squarely on the "hands" of the WRs. Additionally, Leftwich saw the Doc for a second opinion and it looks like ankle surgery is 75% probable (source was USA Today).

Garrard, if healthy, is the starter rest of the season in the opinion of this Jags :homer:

And Del Rio was right, most of those pics were not Garrards fault and he was also victimized on a few other big drops that killed drives and he had a big completion called back. If you look at the stats you'd say he had a bad game but I watched the game and did not come away with that conclusion at all.

Good stuff. I watched parts of the game as I had 5 games going on 5 TV's and it is hard to focus on one game. It looked like he was under some pressure and I did see some bad throws and some poor footwork but he was victimized some. He also made some ill advised throws. While some receivers when they are one on one you just throw it up there and trust your guy, you need to know as a QB that "your" receivers are not good enough for that trust.

(Rotoworld) Dr. James Andrews has advised Byron Leftwich to rest his ankle for 7-10 days before deciding whether to undergo season-ending surgery.

Impact: Andrews found that Byron still has debris and bone spurs in his ankle. Leftwich has not played since Week 7 and appears most likely done for the season. ESPN's Len Pasquarelli reports some Jaguars officials don't feel Leftwich is the club's long-term answer at quarterback.
